boys idont care that your wives have your balls in there purse. i just wanted to know how the skiing at jay was .not where you dream of moving, dont care.
Anybody headed to Jay tomorrow or Sunday?
lol. suggesting someone to go to a ski area's web site to get accurate information on how the skiing is? for real?
Yeah, I am for real on this one. Jay, and many other EC resorts for that matter, are known for talking up their conditions, their openings and their recent snow falls. So when they claim that they have 20 trails with so-so snow with no glades, and no tram, coupled with Jay's dependably sucky grooming - that usually means things are pretty bad. Pretty obvious.
Funny how you were surprised that I suggested Jay's website, but not that I suggested weather.com. I thought people would be all over me on that one...
Another funny site would be www.bestskiweather.com Jimbo is in cahoots w/ most resorts and will convince most to drive hundreds of miles for big pow. I will say since he somewhat uses other peoples info, his reports are a bit more conservative.
thanks thats what i needed to know. i dont hold much stock in mt reports .thats why i asked. it dosnt sound any better up there so back to gore. hawkeye ,tomorrow?Yes, as of last year Roemer is on my people to hurt list.
Furthermore, its "your wives have your balls in their purse", not there. And for your information, my balls are quite happy in the purse, its a Dolce & Gabbana. Sure beats Khols boxers.
Nice pics....but as you can read, many seem more comfortable wallowing in self pity so I'm sure in this case a picture is worth a mountain, no pun intended, of self medicating disdain.
Hey, works for me, more ski time for the rest of us....see ya in February.

Absolutely the best post in this thread. Excellent pics! Wish I was there. I'm trying to stoke folks renting from our shop here in SW PA. One local hill has a trail resembling a narrow tilted (8-10 degree) football field open. The other - 8 trails w/ a skier density of 1/sq yard. Fun is what you make it.
See you in March.;-)

Uh......hmmm....this post is regrettable. I don't know how else to put it.
It seems we go over this every time conditions are less than desirable. Here is how it plays out:
1. Someone on the board posts and asks how the conditions are in northern VT and asks if its worth a 5 or 7 hour each way drive up from NY or NJ or something like that.
2. People express their oppinions on this topic and individuals living far away from the resorts say, no its not worth it to invest 14 hours of round trip driving and expense to ski pretty subpar conditions. Suggestions like "if you can afford to, skiing out West might be a better option" or suggestions like "wait for the conditions to get better before making the trek" are posted.
3. Next locals, or people who live near the mountain(s) in question (who don't have the time/money concerns of driving 14 hours and maybe have a seasons pass to the mountain) post comments that are ment to mock people who said it wasn't worth it for not knowing what they are talking about or not being core enough.
Ask yourself this question: would you invest your entire weekend, potentially leave your family behind, and driving 800 miles and 14 hours, put the miles on your car, spend $75 in gas, $50 in lift ticket and $100 in lodging to ski 20 trails of dust on crust for 7 hours? For me, its just too much of a sacrifice. That is why I will be driving over to Blue Mountain, PA for some night skiing next week instead. 4 hours of driving and $16 lift ticket is simply a better option at this point.
I am jealous that many are locals and can afford to ski a few hours here and there any time they want more or less. More power to you...really. And one day, if I can get my balls back from the wife, I hope to be just like you. But please keep in mind that not everyone is in the same exact situation as you are and they have more factors like time and cost to weigh before jumping in the car and heading up to the hill for a few turns.
man you guys are something ,other than a few post from people that actually know how jay is ,the rest of you are nuts, just trying to get the crap rolling, i dont think ill be asking any more questions that simple in nature.i try to make the 4 hour drive from glensfalls as often as possible , i love to ski jay. to me its one of the best hills in n.e. but like i said ill be at gore tomorrow ,cause its not to bad there. happy new year, be careful out there.
