What is not clear?

Enforcement of the Skiers Responsibility Code will be consistent and black and white with no room for interpretation = 1 strike!

Ski/ride closed trail = losing pass!

Sounds a little overkill to me.

What if a power tripping ski patroller decides to pull your pass for whatever absurd reason?

Jiminy Peak North, Park City East.

The NEW Killington does not sound like the happiest place on earth....yikes.

They're telling people the rule straight up. If someone breaks it and loses their ticket then it's on them. If you don't like their rule no one is making you ski there.

Not quite dude.....they are burying it in a unrelated message board thread.

I'm the one TELLING PEOPLE STRAIGHT UP.......!

Don't you think they should post a zero tolerance policy on the skier's responsablity code on their pass FAQ PAGE, if that is indeed the case????

I guess, but I don't really care. I hate these poor me, I can't do whatever the freak I want threads. Go somewhere else to ski if you don't like it there.

Funny thing is, it is state land. If I'm not mistaken, and I very well my be, you can hike up with no problem and ski down, they can't stop you. Also, if you ski on a closed trail and you don't give up your pass, they can't do anything to force you to give it up. Best they can do is prevent you from getting on their lift. So, if you don't give up your pass upon request, how enforcable is this rule?

At Hunter I saw 2 guys being escorted into what looked like a police car. The ducked the rope onto Clairs run and got nailed at the bottom.

I'm kinda confused what the issue is here. We all know poaching is against the "rules", so why bring it up. I personally have and will poach trails ONLY if I'm very familiar w/ terrain and conditions at whatever mountain I'm skiing. I do this knowing that if I get caught I'm willing to pay the price whatever that might be. If it means I lose my pass then sobeit. I have gotten caught before, and the majority of the time have only gotten asked "how was it". But believe me the secret is not to get caught.:daffy:

I've heard of that happening.. I don't poach Claires generally.. If SP closes it - it's probably really scarey... And if i was thinking about it - I'd ask SP before I did it...

Also - there's a GRUMPY ASS caretaker that lives over there that can be a real jerk... He's come after me before... And I outran him.. Saw him in the deli after that and told him I had nothing to say when he approached me... A total jerk...

It's really not that surprising that in a public forum the K marketing guy is going to state that they have a 0 tolerance policy... you can't really go on the internet and tell people they can do whatever they want at your mountain. He could have been less of a jerk about the way he phrased it, but hey, it *is* the internet.

I wish the season would get going already so we can start to evaluate K based on facts, rather than the rumor of the day. Is it November yet?

Jimney has never been as crazy for me as you make it seem. The one time I was caught poaching there was on Upper liftline About 5 mins. after they had closed it for the night skiing. No lights on the trail but it was only like 4 or so. We poached, and were seen by patrol who was waiting at the bottom of the trail. Got a quick talk from patrol there who them told us we needed to go down to security and he would follow us there. He didnt "escort" us even took a different trail down and showed up at the base 30-45 secs. after us. He was shocked that we didnt try to run and walked us down to security were we got another talk and let go with our tickets still on our jackets.

That doesnt sound to bad to me......

ACTUALLY......

Last year, they were on there saying a three strikes policy, which is pretty much a fair industry norm. Not just poaching, but skiing recklessly too, etc. So, if you were causght 3 times doing something stupid, you would be out.

Killington had enforcement last year, it was firm but fair.

This is new stance is way overkill...............

Now that’s a post I can get behind. A person willing to accept the consequences of his actions without bitching and moaning about it.

As far as my poaching goes...If I know the mountain well, and know the conditions of the trail I'm planning on poaching (checked it out as much as I can from above/below), I'll probably poach it, as long as it isn't a very visible trail. (such as Ovation at Killington, and if the rope is buried in powder, I'll poach even visible trails as long as I know that there aren't any reasons like downed trees for it being closed. Even so, I accept the fact that I could get my ticket pulled.

Also, K isn't going to sit patrollers at the bottom of every trail, and patrollers won't usually pull your ticket as long as you are a decent talker and were skiing competently. That policy is pretty much required for getting insurance and such I would expect, and they didn't say they'll be enforcing it strictly. (besides, enforcing it costs money...they don't want to spend money).
