Cloudy, at the top, clear and warm at the base

Spring like snow

I left Hartford last night around 10:30 in my mobile slope-side condo, the drive up was easy and went quick. Pulled into killington 2.5 hours later. Thermostat read 41 but there was a very strong wind that was rocking the car as I got ready for bed. I opted to take the newer of my two Volvos and found that my newer one is a bit smaller than the one I usually stay in. and between my fire department gear, tool box and ski stuff there was not as much room as I would have liked. Had a good nights sleep work up a few min before 9 am, the wind had died down but I could see the upper 2/3rds of killington was in the clouds
to my surprise there was a good line at the gondola and lift lines were semi-long all day long. The snow was nice and soft but you could see they had lost a good amount of cover esp. on the sides since last week. Stuck to the north-ridge triple all day, the K staff was doing a piss poor job loading three people on the lift and many chairs would go up with only two and sometimes with just one. The ticket scanner should have been directing people not scanning tickets.

Around 11 am things started to bump up on rime which was perfect as most people went down to take lunch easing the lines at the triple. My last run from the summit snow making staff were out with shovels patching the dirt on great eastern. Hope for cold weather and snow.

No pictures as I was skiing by my self and everything was all white.

I left around 3. I'm not sure how they're going to be open tomorrow, it was reallllly thin for a good chunk of upper Rime. Might just be the park up top.

Nice work Mr Magic. I admire anyone who sleeps in their car to get some turns.

I was up there for some birthday turns and managed to snag a few cell phone pics. Northern express was -ugly- in a few spots, rime was a little bare at times too but the bumps were fun.

I did that once. Slept in my car at a gas station and hiked up Killington the next day. When I woke up and went into the gas station for breakfast and a bathroom, it was pretty funny. "Are you the dude that was sleeping out there in the car?"

I can not remember the circumstances that caused me to do that. I know it was during the spring when I was transitioning between MA and VT so I probably had very limited time to squeeze in the effort and needed to be somewhere else later that day.

I was riding the singles line for the triple but never had to wait longer than five minutes I don't think.

This drives me batchit crazy. Was the same at Sunday River on 10/17. If there's anything more than 20 people in line, I feel that every chair should be maxed..........always.

skied the 9-3 shift. lots of thin cover but great day. by the afternoon turned into a big bump party on rime. hammer & the rest of the crew were out in force. luv the fact that they said "quality product" be damned. biggest crowd of the season and no one was complaining about conditions.
