Killington nov-21-09
Cloudy, at the top, clear and warm at the base
Spring like snow
I left Hartford last night around 10:30 in my mobile slope-side condo, the drive up was easy and went quick. Pulled into killington 2.5 hours later. Thermostat read 41 but there was a very strong wind that was rocking the car as I got ready for bed. I opted to take the newer of my two Volvos and found that my newer one is a bit smaller than the one I usually stay in. and between my fire department gear, tool box and ski stuff there was not as much room as I would have liked. Had a good nights sleep work up a few min before 9 am, the wind had died down but I could see the upper 2/3rds of killington was in the clouds
to my surprise there was a good line at the gondola and lift lines were semi-long all day long. The snow was nice and soft but you could see they had lost a good amount of cover esp. on the sides since last week. Stuck to the north-ridge triple all day, the K staff was doing a piss poor job loading three people on the lift and many chairs would go up with only two and sometimes with just one. The ticket scanner should have been directing people not scanning tickets.
Around 11 am things started to bump up on rime which was perfect as most people went down to take lunch easing the lines at the triple. My last run from the summit snow making staff were out with shovels patching the dirt on great eastern. Hope for cold weather and snow.
No pictures as I was skiing by my self and everything was all white.
