Here is the email I just got from Ikon:

"Thank you for contacting the Ikon Pass Contact Center. Closing day for Killington was June 1, 2024, however Killington had their Mountain Bike Club promotion going on where all passholders, not just Ikon pass holders had to purchase tickets to ski. Please contact Killington for more information.

For future references, the opening and closing dates are always listed on the Ikon Pass website. Here is where you can view them: https://www.ikonpass.com/en/opening-closing-dates
As of current, most of our destinations are closed and will be labeled so. During the active season, this will update to show the opening dates for all of our destinations. If you have any further questions or concerns, feel free to give us a call at 888-365-IKON and an agent can assist you.

If you would like to provide information about the service you received during our conversation today, please access this link and complete our quick survey: SeasonPassSurvey.

Cheers to the Good Stuff,"

For one thing, if you go back a few days on Instagram, Killington clearly states "Yes!" to a question about Ikon being valid. Also, that is a complete lie that "all passholders had to purchase a day ticket."

Based on the way that the ticket scanners were suddenly sending people out of line at 9:20, I completely believe Killington that they were taken by surprise by the whole thing. I also think they should've done the right thing and just given vouchers for Ikon passes yesterday instead of making everyone purchase a ticket. Somewhere there was a massive communication breakdown and I think the fault lies with Ikon but clearly they aren't going to be any help.

Wow, can't believe ikon straight up lied and said K pass holders had to buy a ticket.

Nivis Walk > Lauch Pad, with beautiful views of the Green Mountains, was a nice alternative to the chaos of the swarms of people rappelling down the headwall

$25 was a cheap donation for the product they offered and Killington didnโ€™t get to keep any of it. Seems like Killington had nothing to gain by forcing the Ikon pass holders to buy a ticket.

Have you already renewed for next year?

Sounds like my hypothesis may be correct. IKON doesnโ€™t want to payโ€ฆ.in their eyes the season is over.

I don't see why Killington didn't say "present Ikon pass, get free ticket" and sort out whatever snafu happened between them and Ikon later.

I'm not renewing Ikon (already decided, nothing to do with this snafu) and getting Epic Local instead next year and maybe a Killington spring pass.

And how was this Killingtonโ€™s fault? You have an Alterra pass. Alterra does not own Killington. Aside from the lack of clarity in the advertising, Killington didnโ€™t do anything wrong.

All that aside, a $25 ticket that went to charity is kind of a petty thing to complain about IMHO. Honestly Iโ€™d be pissed with Alterra as well, but youโ€™re seeing that they donโ€™t give a shit.

If u were there early and waited an hour on line to get to the scanner and be told you now have to go to k1, get a ticket and get back on line, I think they have a legitimate gripe.

Yeah. With IKON. Every season I hear folks with IKON passes bitch about paying for parking at Alta and other things. They think itโ€™s unfair. And then I calmly remind them that they have basically an unlimited Solitude pass with free days at other places here and there. If they want to have the benefits of an Alta pass, buy one like my family does. They bristle, but itโ€™s the truth.

Itโ€™s the same here. IKON shut off the pass. As that chart on the IKON page said, Alterra considered that K was closed and shut it off. They control the pass.

And expecting any level of customer service from POWDR is also a foolish assumption. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Iโ€™m still shocked that they reopened. It shows how much influence Mike really has. Maybe Dave Fields at Snowbird should take a lesson from Mike.

I don't think it is that simple. I think there was likely a miscommunication between Alterra and Killington. I think Alterra shut it off as they thought based on something K told them that this was considered a special event and were under the impression everyone needed a ticket. The Ikon pass was valid June 1 previous years...so I think there's shared blame here. As someone else said, K should have just given out vouchers and sorted it out with Alterra later on.

Skiing on June 1st and all the bellyaching. SMH.

Exactly, why should anybody be upset if on Friday they said ikon passes were good but then on Saturday after waiting in line for over an hour you are now told they aren't and you have to go buy a ticket and get back in line. Entitled a$$holes for getting upset about that.

I can't relate because I would never wait in line an hour plus for the best conditions mid-winter let alone a WROD in June.
