This is huge for the State of Vermont. I'm going out on a limb here; butt I'm guessing the profits will stay in Vermont. The people working there will be paid more and the mountain will be blessed with great snow for 50 years. Much like in the book The House of Seven Gables when the old battle Axe dies.

Killington and Pico Ski Areas, the largest mountain resort in New England, were recently sold by Powdr Corp. to a group of local passholders12. While the exact sale price hasnโ€™t been disclosed, Powdr Corp. originally purchased Killington and Pico for $83.5 million in 20073.
This sale is seen as a commitment to keeping the resorts in the hands of those who know and love them, with plans for increased capital investment while preserving their unique character and community4.

Okay, 20073 is not a real date. (Inflation and improvements) - (flooding / 2024 -2025 winter weather prediction).

The new owners paid $111,000,000

So, in the real world the price was between $95,000,000 and $134,000,000. No way it went for less; if it did the two guys got a great deal. If it was over; the two guys are going to have an awesome time...

edit: Congratulations Phill Gross and Michael Ferri and others.

Thank You

When I was at the Boston Co. We had $95ish, but I couldn't see the whole company. Harvard, State of California pension. I think Mellon Bank sold them off. At this point, please rebuild the top of Devil's Fiddle chair and run a chair. Also, less signs I know I'm at Killington. Most of the time. Meow

Anything new over that way? They have to make snow early for the race. So, there's that. I'm thinking the marketing will change. Maybe less of the King of Spring and more "we're not the bad guys". I'm doing what I can to ensure a cold snowy start, butt I'm not the master of the universe.

Killington (The Resort) should push the bars on the access road to try and raise the bar. Butt, it's Vermont, run by hippies and (Censored).

As far as the McDonalds, hopefully they will no longer be able to influence the ski area as much by throwing millions and millions and millions to the hill.

PEAK CAM I can live without it, butt life would not be as viewy. I get it it's cold up there. Maybe a bubble boy type situation would be best. The light never goes out on top of Cannon. Meow

Nice! Many frosty peaks this am across the Northeast!

Although a bit far off, some models have a decent high elevation snowmaking window next week. Will they go?

Man, midweek on next week is intriguing per NWS 3419 ft forecast. What's that, just below the bottom of the North Ridge chair?

Yes, pretty much the bottom of North Ridge.

Just looked at that point (I too have it bookmarked) and am not seeing anything lower than 28-29. They blow out the mice, but likely won't get any real production.

The big new project that was announced at the meeting was a beginner area redesign at Pico. The Bonanza Double Chair and the rope tow are being replaced by a covered conveyer lift. The project is a planned collaboration with Vermont Adaptive. This project is subject to state regulatory approvals.

Other projects referenced include a gearbox replacement on the K-1 Gondola, adding three groomers each year, operating South Ridge more frequently, the transition back to K Parks (RIP Woodward at Killington), and breaking ground next spring on the Bear Mountain Basecamp homes.

Perhaps the two most notable moments from the Q&A came when they were asked about lifetime passes and the Killington-Pico interconnect. Unfortunately, thereโ€™s no plan to bring back lifetime passes, which became a legal mess for POWDR after discontinuing them. The interconnect is a consideration in the distant future but isnโ€™t a priority due to the extensive lift and infrastructure work planned at Killington and Pico. In addition, most of the audience seemed to be against the idea of an interconnect, albeit this was more of a local crowd.

Boooooooooo. That and the Sunrise Triple at Killington are where I learned to ski. I always preferred the chairlift to the carpet - felt more big time.

An 800 feet carpet feels like it'd be excessively long and slow. For reference, according to google, the longest one in the WORLD is 920 ft and a 5 minute ride.
