Usually the fine folks over at K-zone are on call to rant about mismanagement whenever there's a blowout. Haven't seen anything from them. That said, they're busy holding all-caps, bold, giant font arguments over class warfare, the definition of a local, spy cameras, and Killington managements evil plan to kill off the riff raff.
Sounds about right. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

That place is nuts, I’ve been lurking there but haven’t wanted to jump in as fresh meat without any recent trips to killington.

I’m hitting k for the first time in about ten years, right after new years.

There's a good half dozen folks there that I enjoy having conversation with. But there certainly are plenty of characters that's for sure. Probably the only ski forum that I've been verbally attacked on for providing triple corroborated factual information. Gotta have thick skin if you join the discussion for sure.

My guess is the water you saw was because there are still free flowing streams all over or it was the bleed on the line. If you keep a line charged but you're not making snow (because it's too warm, etc) you bleed the water off at the end of the line. Since it takes so long to get water from Snowshed all the way through Snowdon through the boosters and up NR they tend to charge it early.

Or, it was a leak because that system needs like 20 miles of new pipe.

Definitely nuts after reading post after post of how the World Cup has ruined the ski experience at Killington for 3 days as well as diverting snowmaking to the Superstar Trail rather than expanding terrain in other areas. No one mentioned how long their season lasts though or mentioned how this is a premier event on the World Cup circuit and the publicity and money it generates for the mountain and surrounding area. Just suck it up and enjoy a unique event.

Don't forget about "Howdy Beast Fans"

Things are "unhinged" over there. Business as usual...
If Kzone wasn't a bit unhinged, I'd be worried that something is really wrong with their normal cast of characters! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

And if one is really honest about K's snowmaking real prowess these days... They are VERY impressive with shear might on Superstar, no doubt about it. Then they are an average to maybe even slightly below average top quarter or so, player with the rest of their system, and a system that while they were a bit later to the game than most to switching over to the obvious cost benefits of low e equipment, has now gone mostly low e, but without a significant amount of needed maintenance and upgrades to their pumping capacity and water distribution system, and it also seems like they are struggling a bit to find enoigh snowmakers to operate the large crews that they need to get their labor heavy system that is spread out over a vast network of terrain.

There are a bunch of folks in denial over on Kzone, and I bet they still would be in denial if Mike S was able to make an objective statement about the true state of the K snowmaking system now and how it ranks with other players in the East today. They're kind of like Yankees Fans, they'll gladly tekk you about how many champrionships they've won in the past, and most of those are now in the distant past, but be in denial about the current state of things.. ;):ROFLMAO:

I disagree, I'm getting pretty sick of the world cup.

I read kzone all the time and can't think of anybody on there that doesn't think the snowmaking at K is antiquated and in need of a major upgrade so not really sure what your talking about.

The posts about spy cameras over at KZone in the β€œpoaching” thread are very interesting / big brother-ish … apparently Killington put a high-def camera at the bottom of the Spillway trail and have been silently pulling the passes of dozens of poachers on that trail when the Canyon area was closed. (By comparing footage of skiers on Spillway with footage at the chairlift gates when their pass gets scanned.)

Very true and so do some of the lifts. Look, my guess is a lot of this all hinges on the village build. That will completely change the Snowshed and Ramshead base areas and flow to the point that if I was going to rebuild the snowmaking system and lifts, I'd wait til I was sure that thing was going to happen. Assuming it does, I would think they would begin rebuilding their systems around and in concert with the village. IE, snowmaking wise, I'd want to start high and then expand down to that village, especially if I intended to keep the WC. If they have a vision like that, you cannot expect them to start building that until the village is a known thing.

IMG_6556.jpegKillington was pretty fun today! Only like 1-2” but it goes a long way towards making things look, feel, and ski better.

The negative din crew was def out in force on the holiday Saturday. The best was the lower β€œheadwall” of bear claw which got a bit bumpy and rock exposed and the Jerrys all did a skis off walk of shame. Some pics below. That guy was saying β€œstop fuckin filming me!”. LOL, just send it idiots! I sent the pic to my buddy and he memed it

Got there at 745. Skied til 330. Had to take an hour break to run an errand to rutland and back midday! Weird! Got a good parking spot when returning. About 37k
