I'll use my first post on this board to say..............Whoooo hoooooo! Snow is on its way!!!

Move along folks. Nothing to see here. According to our resident expert, these are just tests:

As for the nay-sayers.......this is still a sign of winter on its way.

Welcome Trekchick! Assume your Trekchick from EpicSki, you have alot of great posts over in bearland, if, of course my assumption is correct. If not, welcome for sure and never mind.

Not sure about the snow, but have you ever skied Mount Bohemia? That place looks rad.

Did you know they have Cat skiing there? There's a small article in the latest skiing on it. Very interesting group of people running it, they renamed the mountain Everest.

Ha ha ha...this is the funniest thing ever. All these posts just prove my point, yet you're trying to say opposite. Do you guys have ANY clue what you're looking at? The Loaf ran Low E's for a start. If they really wanted to build a base they would have run conventionals and socked the air to them to get 12+ inches instead of the 4 or less they did make. You consider 4 inches of icy slop on wet warm ground a base building event? Are you kidding me?!?!? With days of temps in the 40's and 50's coming up??? I will be surprised if there is even a trace left anywhere by Friday... although Attitash looks like they may have managed to pump out a foot. FYI, the loaf could STILL be blowing right now if they really wanted too, yet they were shut down at the crack of dawn??? Then you take Hype from the press release (that I already told you would be forthcoming) proclaiming a test to be base building (if you read it the way YOU WANT TO READ IT, as the line you took to meaning base building also means the opposite) to pump up the clueless and send them running to buy passses as the truth??? I wonder why all the pics at the loaf are from a mile away??? Could it be to hide the fact they only made 2-4 inches of icy slush??? I suppose you believed Bush when he rolled out his "Mission Accomplished" banner too? Idiots.

Okay, despite the fact that you insist on calling us all idiots (which I've already warned you once about after your "stupid" comment), I'm prepared to humor you and play devil's advocate. I've been a pretty close observer of the Northeast ski industry for several years and I've never seen an early snowmaking effort like this, by multiple resorts, that was not actual base building. Why are you so convinced that this is all just a hype effort? Aside from the small test patches Killington and a few others used to so, normally this is a pretty typical start. Granted, the midweek warm-up may whack some of this base, but this is the real thing. They simply wouldn't go to this extent for a photo opp; they wouldn't have too...

Now Mount Snow's effort could be considered a photo opp, since they didn't attempt anything at the higher elevations, but even then they like to open Launch Pad early anyway so why not take a stab and get started? Early season snowmaking is always a dice roll and a chance. It could melt out just as much later in the month or even December, just like last year. At what point will you accept that this is the start of snowmaking? If nobody resumes tonight despite temps that allow for it, you might have a case.

Just face Greg, snowman is OBVIOUSLY right. You really should just flip the switch back to green on the message board and delete all of the snowmaking threads.

All of these ski areas are just pulling wool over our eyes with these sneaky little snowmaking tests

OK, nice to see you talking in the reasonable tone I appreciate.. instead of the "lets just argue everything snowman says for the sake of arguing" routine, although, I'm quite sure the rational person hidden deep inside you is looking at the pictures and the forecast and saying..."oh geez, I think he was right". Honestly Greg, it's all hype and promo. The reason it's occuring this year where it has not in years past is there are all these new owners in town, so everyone as the tape measure out and the spin and promo engines fired up to 130% power. The Loaf is going to melt. As I already mentioned, they also didn't use the right equipment for maximum snowmaking and would still be blowing right now if they were trying to build a base for real. The Loaf ran the low e's to make an entire lift served trail LOOK white from afar to hype up people who have no clue. If they really wanted to make a base they would have used conventionals to blow some 12-24 inch piles that would have stood a much better chance of lasting, but would have looked patchy on the distance pic. What the loaf has there now may well be all gone by the end of day Wednesday if it gets warm, never mind Friday. The wording in their press release may well have been crafted by the same guys who craft the "global warming is not occuring" releases for the US gov. They crafted it to allow people to read into it what they wanted to read into it. The only one that I give any credence to at all is Attitash. They look like they made a bit of snow, although the pic might be carefully crafted from an opportune position. The whole point of fan guns is to be able to make some decent snow in so-so temps like this. If Attitash blows again tonight, I will know they mean business, however, with the forecast, I don't think it's a very good play.

I'm so glad you approve. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree.
