I may be enticed to do Magic if they open Saturday. Those pics look pretty sweet of roark and djspookman in their report .......... If it's anything like opening MRG oh boy! I'll probably be solo.

I just called, and the woman said "possibly" tomorrow and "definitely" Saturday. "Pretty close to 100%" of the mountain would be open, she said.

To spice up my earlier offer of hitching a ride, if anyone else is car-less and powder-hungry in the NYC area, I'd rent a Zipcar for the day if I had at least one person to split the cost ($142 including tax and gas). Any interest?

Don't want to be a jerk but I'm hoping for Saturday! Hope you can find a ride up. I'm staying (40) minutes south at Mt. Snow Friday night. If you find someone to commute with you are both more than welcome to join me the night before if you don't want to make the ride Saturday morning.

Thanks--lets see if I get any takers. Hopefully the prospect of crashing with some guy from the internet named Reefer won't scare anyone away...

It is official. Magic will be opening Saturday Morning. We will know the total terrain/trail count on Friday....it will be close to 100%. There is a lot of snow to harvest up there!

Option #3

I could also sign up for a cheap Okemo bus trip (http://www.snowbirdsskitours.itcstore.com/default.aspx?p=42387) and hitch a ride down to Magic. Anyone coming from the North want to swing through the Okemo parking lot on the way to and from? I'd throw in some lunch/beers...

The amount of time I'm starting to spend planning out circuitous routes to the mountains is getting a little ridiculous...someone tell my office to give me more work to do.

Snow quality

Whats everyone's feelings about snow quality at Magic this Saturday? Is it going to be 2-3ft of powder or something like 2-3ft of snow with crust on the top or crust embedded within the snow?

Their snow report says normal w/e rates..... $56.00. Never thought I'd use the VT. Passport on Magic. But the whole mountain appears to be open with plenty left ungroomed! They are going to update at 2:00pm, but they said they were being liberal with rope droppings!

The snow quality should be great. They have gotten a lot of snow and they've been grooming the slopes they regularly groom (Green - Black) all week. There haven't been any freeze/thaws or rain so there shouldn't be any crust embedded.
