Is Middlebury still worth the time if the Bailey Falls chair isn't running? Xwhaler and I are planning on being there on a Monday in mid March. We have Fox 44 cards and want to maximize them.

In my opinion the better skiing is on the front side anyway. There's not really much to get excited about on the Bailey's Fall side, couple of short drops & that's about it, quite a few flat sections. Allen, Ross & Proctor are fun to lap all day, don't forget to take the outer trail near the top of Proctor, usually good powder laying in there. That's my opinion anyway.

We ask because the snow report today has only the Worth Mtn chair spinning.
I wonder if they aren't seeing enough demand on Feb 23rd to run the back side lift, what would March 16th look like?

I agree that the frontside offers a lot of good variety. You will be surprised how steep those runs are.

Bailey's Falls is a slower CTEC Triple. It is fun to ski back there because it feels so remote and wild, but honestly you only lose like three or so trails. I think that terrain is all natural too with little or no snowmaking.

No snowmaking on the Bailey's fall side that I'm aware of, I don't think they ever groom it either. I think the only trails they blow snow on are Allen & Ross on the front side & a trail or two off the Sheehan lift. Everything else is au-natural. Skied there a lot in my youth but have only been there a couple of times recently, non this season so far.

I do recall them doing some grooming on the back side....and I think there is some snowmaking up on the very top of that lift (I think I saw that on a map once). But you're right--overall they leave the backside alone and that can be awesome or terrible.

Youngman was supposed to get snowmaking when the area was cut but the tree huggers stopped that.

Allen/Ross off Worth and 2-3 off Sheehan.

I guess I am in the minority, if there is snow I consider the Bailey lift the place to be.

Thanks for the feedback all.
We both really want to ski all of Middlebury's offerings so revised our itinerary to hit Middlebury on a Saturday and MRG Monday (fewer lines)
So it should work out really well---looking fwd to that trip!
