I ussually wear a pair of nylon hiking pants over my light-weight thermals and then put on my ski pants once I get there. It depends on the temperature though, sometimes I don't wear the thermals. There's no way I'd drive with my ski pants on, too hot!

I'll strip down to long johns... But thats it..

I have a seasonal locker at Hunter - only locker owners are supposed to use the locker rooms....
One day I walk in after riding all day and find 6 Hasidic guys changing.. They were stripped down to their prayer shawls and briefs... And those briefs were loose - if you know what I mean..

I tried to ignore them - even though they were taking up a ton of room... When one wanted to use part of the bench I was using - It was to close for my comfort..
I told them they had to get out cause it was seasonal locker members only.. They got into the whole - "We paid for a ticket just like you" thing..

I didn't even bat an eye... Just went right to security.. Security came and just as it was getting ugly... I left... I think security had to drag them out..

I never thought of myself as an exhibitionist....but, at least at the end of the day....I'll find a quiet table sit down and nonchalantly get down to my boxers....and quickly put on a pair of fleece pants for the ride home.

Is this a faux pas?

Down to boxers huh?

Guess that goes back to the old boxer/breif/boxer-brief poll

http://forums.alpinezone.com/viewtopic.php?t=3421

I find that with all the hi-performance gear now...everything is quite dry...unlike the old days...when I worked 3 times as hard and worked up about 3 times the sweat...

No, a nice pair of extremely "air-conditioned" boot bag jeans and the thermals work great together....and a cotton tee for the ride home...usually put the ski jacket in the bag, and throw on extra fleece pull over....hmmmm toasty..

That way I can rip it off in the car because everyone else is too cold...except the son

Am I the only one who puts his ski pants on at home and drives in them?

Down to long underwear in lodge is acceptable. Unless wearing silk long underwear without a barrier in between - if you know what I mean (story for a different time).

Way too warm/uncomfortable to drive in ski pants and like being comfortable on the way home specifically...

the groceries are always double-bagged here, which is why I always just change in the lodge. I wear the moisture-wicking boxer-briefs with either flannel boxers (warmer days) or long-johns (colder days) over them. If I have a short trip to the mountain (15 minutes or less) and I'm flying solo, I just put the ski pants on at home. Otherwise, it's jeans or fleece pants. Gotta be comfortable.

At my home mountain, I boot up in my condo and drive 2 miles to my pay parking spot. I pretty much never go in the base lodge first thing in the morning.

When I'm traveling and driving any kind of distance, I usually change in the rental car and boot up in the parking lot.

Didn't Aspen have that nudist lodge in the early '70's....

....for about one or two winters ? The Town Council passed a special ordinance. It was in that tiny lodge next to the patroller's shack at the bottom of the double that served Aprilfoolya Bowl, if I'm recalling correctly....

I drive up in ski pants, boot up in lodge, but change into jeans afterwards. I always wear longjohns, but still try to be somewhat discreet. Besides, more people watch my wife change than watch me.

My modesty level is directly dependent on the age of the population around me...

Mostly kids I'll be discreet, no kids around, I couldn't care less...

Probably because I hang around with people that have so little shame you can point to them and say "get naked" and will do it most of the time.

I usually have an hour drive at least to ski so I drive up in jeans or the dress of the day and change and boot up in the lodge. I wear moisture wicking underwear of some sort (un padded cycling shorts work well) with nylon or poly pro shorts. Poly pro or polyester shirt with micro fleece on top if it's cold.

No sense in sacrificing slope time in the name of trying to be discrete!

or the dress of the day

Would that be strapless?

Lol, I just realized how funny that reads.

Reminds me of a funny story... back in high school an army recruiter called my friend's house four times in one week. My friend's mother finally got so tired of turning him down, the last time he called she said "Well yes, he's been thinking of enlisting, but he was wondering if he could bring his dresses with him."

And the recruiter never called back.

Where... Where are these people?

Ehhh... don't get too excited, none of em are chicks.

Just psycho's with no fear or shame, but that also makes them very entertaining.[/quote]

Changing?

I don't have a problem with changing into my powder suit while standing in the lodge. I usually wear a pair of "cutoff" (just below the kneecap) thermals under my powder suit. I can't stand anything other than a pair of thin ski socks from my calves down into my boots. These thermals are exponentially more modest then any number and kinds of shorts/swimsuits that people wear in other circumstances. It is not as if I parade around; I just step out of my slacks, and into my suit in a matter of a few seconds. Look away if it bothers you. I have to laugh at prudish individuals who are "bothered" by this. Imagine them catching a glimpse of a nursing mother?

I think it's funny too, but our european roots are showing through. This country was founded by Puritans who were amongst the most prudish groups in history, and that background still endures today.

I have seen allegedly mature adults go completely bonkers at airports because they caught a glimpse of a nursing mother, even though she was behind a screen at the gate area erected for that very purpose.

Then again, they weren't prudish enough to resist looking in the first place.
