I think it's funny too, but our european roots are showing through. This country was founded by Puritans who were amongst the most prudish groups in history, and that background still endures today.

I have seen allegedly mature adults go completely bonkers at airports because they caught a glimpse of a nursing mother, even though she was behind a screen at the gate area erected for that very purpose.

Then again, they weren't prudish enough to resist looking in the first place.

I know this is "off topic" but can't resist. Hotel/motel industry studies show that:... "in room rentals of "X" rated videos is at its highest level when the facilities are booked by the most politically conservative/religious oriented conference groups." I guess my "shorty thermals" might be a bit too titillating for some of these individuals

I never wear any ski gear in the car.
I always change in the lodge. I have a few pairs of very thin and breathable bicycling pants without padded seats that I wear under a baggy pair of jeans. no-one can ever say anything about strippin' down to them in public. they are made to be worn solo.
if I need extra warmth, I can throw a pair of long johns over them.
after skiing, everything comes off and I have a change of clothes in my back pack waiting for me.
I cannot imagine someone voluntarily riding from Long island to VT in any ski gear. I like my T-shirt and jeans.

I rarely use lodges and prefer booting up at the car.

If I need to change at the end of the day I pull out a floor mat and change in the parking lot. If some one catches peek, good for them. I don't flaunt my candy but I'm not ashamed of my goods either.

If I don't have a patrol room to change in, I do the one footed chicken dance in the parking lot.

Will I drop an outer layer in the lodge, with long johns underneath, without a second thought. Have I dropped "trow" to Butt Naked in a lodge to get out of wet gear when no one was around? Yes. I can't tell you the name of the resort, but it does rhyme with "Slaughter Hill Rally" :dunce:

most of my skiing is day trips and i HATE driving an hour or more (up to 3) wearing bulk. changing in the lodge (sweats to ski pants) is something i do all the time as my base layers are usually on. if for some reason i need to change to/from no base layer i'll use the rest room. tho @ Okemo on my last trip i just went behind a rack in the main lodge but it wasn't very crowded.

I ride to the mtn in my ski pants. I only wear shell pants, and if I'm dressed warm, I dont crank the heat!:smash:

After skiing I use the bathroom to take off my long underwear and switch over to jeans.

On race nights, i have no problem dropping down to boxers before putting on the long underwear and race suit. At least the boxers are loose, the speed suit shows a whole lot more when it squeezes you tight;-)

I wear my ski pants to and from the mountain. In the spring sometimes I have to use the A/C in the car and open the vents on the pants.

no problem going down to long johns

and if it's spring and I'm just wearing boxers, I'll potentially change into my ski pants as well if there aren't many people around.

Not really a fan of getting changed in bathroom stalls as even at the nicer ski resorts they can be pretty nasty and rarely have a full cover top toilet seat to sit on.

I really like Sugarbush's day 'locker' area. Perfect set up with changing rooms.

I don't have a problem with changing into my powder suit while standing in the lodge. I usually wear a pair of "cutoff" (just below the kneecap) thermals under my powder suit. I can't stand anything other than a pair of thin ski socks from my calves down into my boots. These thermals are exponentially more modest then any number and kinds of shorts/swimsuits that people wear in other circumstances. It is not as if I parade around; I just step out of my slacks, and into my suit in a matter of a few seconds. Look away if it bothers you. I have to laugh at prudish individuals who are "bothered" by this. Imagine them catching a glimpse of a nursing mother?

Really? You have a " Powder Suit ?" Like a full -on fag bag one piece? 1980's neon? Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I always change in the lot. I wear shorts then throw on underarmor or just go with the wicking boxers depending on temp. And reverse it at the end of the day. I have two extra rubber mats in the back of the truck to throw on the ground.

Hell, if I want to ski that day after I land I wear my stuff on the plane..I don't find the pants warm at all..what I do find is a lot of lodges are too damned crowded at times..so I arrive ..ready to go...

I've never see changing rooms in the locker area at Sugarbush - are you talking the locker area off to the right side of the main lobby area? Or is there more than one locker area there? (Haven't been in the new buildings). Curious because that is one mountain I do change for the ride home due to the long drive.

On day trips, I drive up ready to go. It's great that venting is so common in ski pants now, it really helps to regulate temps on the drive up. I started changing out of my ski pants/shirt at the end of the day. I'll keep on base layer pants (3/4) and just throw a pair of sweats over them, usually changing in the car.

yes

when you walk in the main lower level doors it's to your right. A bunch of wooden shelves to stash your bag for the day and there are two changing rooms in there as well.

Been in there to store my stuff, have seen the lockers, shelves and benches....never saw the changing rooms. Will look for them next trip. Thanks!

I got a locker at Hunter... I change down to my long johns,,, Really quick.. If the locker room isn't crowded...

Every once in a while I walk in and find people stripped down to underwear.. But they are "squatters"...
Once I walked into the locker room and and found 5 Orthodox Jewish dudes stripped down to their prayer shawls... with kids in the locker room.. I asked them to leave.. They would not and got a tad militant.. Saying they paid for the ticket they can do what they please...

I went and talked to the head of security.. Tom came in and had them removed...

Boot up in the parking lot, put my coat on and head to the lift. If it's real cold I'll drive to the hill with my boots on....simple

This. Although, I find changing in the bathroom stall semi-gross as it usually stinks. If I can't find a clean one, I'll just drive home in the shells.
