Looking like more rain for Wednesday and Wednesday night with a chance for a changeover around midnight. I don't care. I am skiing somewhere on Thursday, regardless. If we get a lot of rain and not much snow, I'm heading to Butternut just to take a few turns. It's only an hour's drive, so if it's really crappy, I can simply come home and salvage the afternoon to do something around the house. If we get a decent amount of snow (3+ inches), I'll probably head to Jiminy. If K picks up 6" or more, I may take the drive up there.

What a rollercoaster this early season has been. Big dumps followed by rain, then more snow...

at the least, the snow rain cycle has built up a huge base as the snow gets the hard freeze after the powder dump. i'll take a solid base and no powder on the weekends in december with an epic march and april any day!

at the least, we must remember these epic december snow falls are abnormal and are just a bonus for the high amount of trails that will be open before the new year.

True. Someone remind me. Do snowy (or stormy) Decembers historically translate into snowy winters overall? I know it was the case last year.

I think we're going to have another late winter next year. I'd also be looking for another huge dump sometime around or after Christmass and the new years.

I told you to get out there Tues or Wed, Greg. Some awesome skiing. I didn't get much chance because I've been home with my daughter as she's caught the flu. Joy.

This weekend should be good once the wet heavy stuff is processed and cold returns. I'm hoping for some sun.

I know, I know.

All I can hope for is that this front passes through quickly and changes it to snow. Looks like it could be a decent amount based on this radar.

Yea, light drizzle here now. May pickup but looks like we'll be through this front in no time. Shouldn't be as bad as the last bad bad spell. I still have nightmares over that one.

Lemme know if you think it'll be worth trekking North to Killington. I'll probably just go to Jiminy, but if you guys get a half foot, I may brave the "commute". :p

Still wet up here. I'm guessing things should be changing to freezing then snow by 7-8pm or so. We'll see. I'm taking my daughter to the doctor in a few. I'll get a chance to see what the roads are like. When I see the return of snow coming down tonight I'll let you know how it's looking. Wouldn't surprise me to see Killington get 4-5" of fresh by morning tomorrow. Depends if they get cold enough down there, they are not that far south so looks good.

If you do go, be very careful of the icing.

I wonder if Northwest Mass is going to cash in on some of the frozen love. I may not be able to get out the door much before 7:30 tomorrow and that would mean not getting to KBL before 11 AM. Jiminy may be the only option for me.

Save the driving headache and save the trip to kmart for better conditions. Rained up until 6-7pm, steady at times. Now the white stuff is falling again and we have a few inches of fluffy over ice. I'm sure we'll get at least 4" by morning, possibly much more. Not good for driving.

Well, it's been 24 hours without power at home with my feverish daughter after another previous 2 other days of staying home from work with her watching all this beautiful snow come down. Yay, I'm now back in the realm of the civilized. Power, heat, water, phone, tv, internet.... sigh. It's about time.

All that freezing rain and then wet snow hit us bad in the valley. But we picked up another 1-1.5' of snow from last night and all day today. Tons of trees and branches on the ground. WInter wonderland for sure up here. Should be a good weekend and good Christmass. No reason for the bush not to be totally open. Too bad I used all my time, but I'll get more vacation after the New Years. And the weekend is coming up. :) TGIF.

Mad River Glen's ski report for Friday, December 19:
Yesterday was without a doubt one of the best ski days in recent memory. We received a foot of new snow on Wednesday night and another 9 to 12 inches during the day yesterday. With a storm total of 21 to 24 inches, the conditions were truly perfect! Today should be another incredible day with plenty of powder to enjoy and a forecast for partly sunny skies and temperatures in the 20s. Thanks to more than 7 feet of snow we've already received this December, the mountain is 100% open with skiing on all 45 trails with powder and packed powder conditions. 21 novice and intermediate trails have been groomed overnight. The Single Chair to the summit and the Sunnyside Double Chair will run from 9:00 to 3:45 and the Practice Slope Chair will run from 9:00 to 4:15.

Gee, they're 100% open!

Hi Sugarbush! :dunce:

And I'm surprsied, summit & GMX closed again on Friday at the bush. Plus spring fling is down due to master's racing. Ah well, I'm at work anyway. Sucks, blue skies today and sun is out. Simply beautiful up here. I hope the sun is out tommorrow.

Please tell the Christmas forecast is going to be wrong. Vermont just got back in shape after this week's rain...
