I don't know if I have oldtimes disease or what, but along time ago even before I skied I seem to remeber a lift coming out of the Snow Lake Lodge. Perhaps it was just next to it, but I thnk it ran over the lake to the base area. I recently saw an old trail map with what looked like this lift. Does anyone know if this lift actually exsisted.

From Mount Snow Website

The First Skis-On Gondola and Air Car 1964
Mount Snow continues to be the ski industry leader with the introduction of the first skis-on gondola to the summit. These brightly colored cabins, which resemble eggs, allow skiers to keep their skis on yet at the same time be shielded from the weather. A second gondola is added six years later at the site of the current Ego Alley triple chair (the gondola top terminal is still in existence).

The gondola isn’t the only unique lift Walt adds that year. The Jetsons-like air car transports skiers from Snow Lake Lodge across the lake to the base of the mountain. Two cars are on each cable; each car holds six passengers.

its soo funny how they tried to make it all "futuristic" looking....geez its just a ski lift.

The era of Jetsons like "concept cars" super interesting..too bad they don't still have it..wonder who bought all the cars??

Mount Snow used to have some awesome lifts. They also had that chain drive chair that would drip oil on you from time to time.

The last chain lift they had was the MIXING BOWL. It lasted until the 90's.

I remember going to Mt. Snow and skiing a couple hundred feet on that for free to "test the snow". What a clunker.

The other longer one was called STANDARD. That lift was sloooooooow.

I rode on that futuristic thing that crossed the pond a few times. I also spring skied on the "mountain" created by the big fountain they used to have in the middle of the pond. I can also remember skating on their indoor rink in the base lodge and swimming in the outdoor pool. That all must have been around 1970 or so.
