I was also there this past weekend.. had a good time.

I will say, regarding that dude's thread complaining about mt snow last week, the lifts did seem to stop quite a bit over the course of the weekend and across the different areas. We were stopped on one of the north face lifts for a solid 5-7 minutes on saturday, assume it was power related as both lifts stopped at the same time. There seemed to be quite a few similar (not quite as long) interruptions no matter where we were on both days.

Its also interesting how your perspective on a place changes as your ability level/interests change... North is fun but it was much steeper in my mind.

I remembered it being steeper also. Still, it is clearly the steepest they offer and I really like the runs. Except Ripcord, I'm not a fan of moguls.

If the stoppages happened between say 10:30 and noonish, then more than likely it wasn't power related, but a function of what we Mount Snow regulars have come to accept is the "crack of 10 masses distribution" This is when the disproportionate number of lower level skiers/riders finally get on the hill (usually around 10) and then get out of the base area and start working their way "around the world" (main face to North face to Sunbrook and then over to Carinthia) before they realize what part of the mountain they want to settle in on for a few runs.

This usually effects the North face (with decent lines and lots of stoppages) In the 10:30-12 range, Sunbrook from 11-12:30 and Carinthia from about 11:30 until 1 - during the Sunbrook redistribution of the masses last Saturday, my wife and I as we were about 5 chairs from the top of Sunbrook about 11:15 had the "pleasure" of watching a woman on what looked to be rentals forget to unload at the top terminal and go around the bullwheel and have to be helped off by the summit liftie after tripping the emergency stop wand!

More often unless you see or hear the lift mechanic guys in the bright orange helmets racing up the hill on their snowmobiles during a lift stoppage, even an extended stoppage, it's more likely related to low level lift users rather than mechanical issues!

I didn't see it, but my brother mentioned a skier somehow managed to get annihilated getting on the Grand Summit Express. It stopped the lift for a few minutes. My response was - how can someone possibly screw up getting on or off of that chair lift? You don't need to do anything. It moves as slow as possible at both the top and the bottom AND there's a moving sidewalk to get on! It doesn't get any easier than that.

In stark comparison is the Sunrbook lift which whips like a rodeo bull at the bottom and then tosses you off at full speed at the top down a 35* decline that is pure ice. Usually lift attendees throw snow on the declines off the lifts so that it is not too icy. On Sunday they must have just thought "ehhh fuck it" for Sunbrook. The whole ramp down was just a sheet of ice when we were over there.
