I'm pretty sure the superpipe was created for the snowboard Grand Prix event they hosted the last two years. Maybe they're not hosting it this season??

Shuttles? Or driving between peaks....

No shuttle service anymore at creek, and come on, driving between peaks? You've been to MC, and the parking is horrible.
No superpipe this season. Not an ounce of snow has been made in it and guns have been removed. hmmm, wonder why they don't tell passholders this in advance?

Good, that will keep any leftover park rats off vernon.

Well I've been watching Belleayre all week, and they STILL only have 2-3 runs open (off the top). So I'll be at MC tomorrow at around 7:30AM. I just want to get this season started, hopefully it's not horrible. Not sure where to ski though, it's a tough decision. Park at South and ski better terrain but have to dodge park ramps, ramps, rails, etc? Or go to Vernon and ski piddly crap? Either way lines will be enormous. At first I was set on going to South because I thought Bear was open, but seeing as it's not, I may be better off going to Vernon and having a choice of Horizon (good god that trail sucks) or Half Moon to Sayonara (not as bad, but not good).

True, last year they ran a shuttle early season, then inexplicably stopped it after lunch. I had to go in and complain for 20mins until they got me a shuttle back to Vernon with some employee that had to go over there. (I was with a HS trip.)

Assuming you're a decent skier/boarder, go to Hunter....all the main runs off the top are open, along with Wayout on the West Side. Since you seem to be able to deal with MC crowds, Hunter will have nothing by comparison. (especially if you stay off Belt and Hellgate).

Not to Hi-jack but Blue mountain currently has 5 runs open from the top. 2 blacks, one blue, one green, and a terrain pack..with more terrain expected soon. Alot of former Mountain Creek park rats and even a high school race team from Basking Ridge make Blue their home mountain because it's a skiers mountain...No condos and waterslides..Holla

MC

MC is terrible way to expensive for what they offer, and they dont offer much, lines lines and lines, plus all terrain parks, no point to go there.

Are you sure they removed the guns off the pipe? That would be big news. There are 4 fan guns on the right hand side usually. And then they bring in some extra tripod guns and wheeled fan guns. Usually they don't start making snow on it until late december anyway. However they are not hosting the Grand Prix this year, Killington is hosting the east coast one, so we'll see.

Word has it that the Super Pipe will NOT be open this year.

Jack Kurlander is probably looking down from heaven and crying.

Eh, its a loss for about a hundred guys out of thousands. My friend and I used to hike it after school sometimes and there would be a handful of guys who could get air out of it a night, forget even start doing anything with it. And another dozen dropping in with any reasonable intention learning it. And then you had the people who would pizza down the middle, that was ridiculous. But you would look through the trees and see 50 guys in the sugar jib park on 10 rails while 5 of us spent the night on this giant investment of snow. It was my favorite park feature and even I couldn't justify it. I'd rather have devil's bit open earlier, the amount of snow sunk into it is huge. Especially considering it was only open for about 6 weeks a year. They never opened it before the Grand Prix, and by the time that was done it was late January. Last year there wasn't one, the two years before it was gorgeous, and the year before that it was trash. So in 4 years we got 12 good weeks out of it. Not really worth it.
