Anyone that can to T2B at MRG in 6 minutes is the man...

Well then I am the man and I see to recall the single at MRG being less that 14 minutes..like 11-12 minutes..anyway when I ski I don't like to stop..My best at MRG is 18 runs but that includes the double as well...and I was beat

I guess so...

Hopefully, we can take some turns together this season. You must truly be a pleasure to watch ski. It's always interesting to see how well folks align with the ability they claim online.

I'm sure I'll ski with you sometime this season..maybe at the Sugarbush AlpineZone day..I'm self-taught although I have some racer friends who coach me but I'm an endurance skier. That's why I skied 57,000 vertical feet in a day at Jackson Hole back in 2006 and 61,000+ vert in a day my last trip..Skiing run after run after run after run after run without stopping is what I like to do. Sometimes I ski like an out of control noodle and sometimes I don't but I enjoy all conditions from solid ice..to breakable crust..to spring slop..to fresh Poe..

Lifetime ski day #1,000 is coming really soon..hopefully before I turn 30..

MRG is an awesome place.. realtively untamed feel to the terrain.
I used to love skiing it.. Telemarked there a couple times but I'm not really good enough for the waterfall on Paradise..

I hope to snowboard there someday. It looks like an incredible place to ride..

i think we're seeing growth in skiers who want more challenge, more extreme terrain and the backcountry experience and mrg plays into this market. i definitely there's room for other areas (magic and particularly wildcat come to my mind) that service this growing niche.

If you are referring to the skier at AZ, I think we are quiet a skewed sample. I hope you are right though.

Yeah, Greg's a much better skier than he let's on to be.

And I can prove to most that I'm a better skier going backwards than I am going forwards.

i didnt read this whole thing so this may have been said before. mrg skiers actually own the mountain. we are a coop. we fund the improvements and make sure no big corporation or real estate developer ever buys it. it will remain pristine and challenging. there is no better terrain in vermont except for maybe jay when there is natural snow.
mad river is a natural skiing mountain. natural trees and natural trails and natural bumps and pretty much natural everything. its terrain is very western in style and design and that is hard to duplicate on the east coast. mad river has done just that and as long as the shareholders and coop board remain in charge thats the way mad river will stay. its awesome and when it does snow there are no snoboarders to scrape down the natural terrain. i love mad river glen.

One other way to survive in a niche market is to be state-run, such as Cannon. Although it doesn't ban snowboarding, Cannon is very similar to MRG in most other ways, including a loyal following due to its disregard of beginner terrain or anything "smooth" above the the lower third of the mountain, and probably the most spartan (non-lift) facilities. More than any other place in New England, I tend to describe MRG and Cannon as being more an "acquired taste" to people who are used to resort-type places.

While Cannon's been losing money for several years now, many chalk that up to the "government's being bad at managing a business" argument--but that's a whole 'nother discussion rehashed time and time again. It has its issues with less early snow and your occasional 80mph wind whipping through the notch, but still has a loyal fan base similar to MRG, and is hard to say whether it's because there aren't enough hardcore skiers around, or just due to government-run inefficiencies.

In any case, I've always liked the more laid-back vibe at MRG (although it's been a few years) and Cannon. Although commercial and certainly different in terrain from MRG and Cannon, Wildcat also has that laid-back vibe, both in the people and environment due to its location and complete lack of development.

If I could take a test - and I could prove to you without a doubt that my riding style won't scrape snow like most intermediate snowboarders and skiers....

Would you allow me to ride with you at MRG?

Hell No,,,but you can hike up before the lifts open and shred down..Snowboarders have the right to create a snowboard only mountain...

The big question is..are snowblades allowed at MRG???
