Belleayre
Try Belleayre. It's not far from Albany and we don't tend to get as crowded as Hunter/Wyndham on the weekends. It's a nice mountain with a little of everything but I wouldn't rate it as an expert mountain. We've got a few trails which are considered expert trails but we have a lot of intermiediate and beginner terrain. It's also more family oriented than many mountains in the area, or at least, it's sold as that.
You're certainly close enough to going up to Vermont as well. I'd suggest making some trips up there, too.
Good luck. If you decide to go to Belleayre let me know. I'm on the ski patrol there and can help show you around the mountain.
