skiing or boarding?? is it easier to learn to ski first, and then change? my son really wants to learn how to board, but I have heard several of you on this forum say that it is hard.

Don't listen to these old farts... ;)
Most have only invest one day in before they quit..

If your son really wants to board - let him..
It's easier for kids that have never skiied to pick it up then adults...

If he's really little(under 5 or 6) - he's going to have to ski.. Cause it's easier to balance..

Also - I agree with waht was said above..
Lot's of people I know that were average skiers - took up boarding and now kick butt... They are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better riders then they were skiers... And as a result have more fun...

I have 3 kids all are snowboarders. I agree with DMC, if that is what they want to do then so be it. As an "old fart" with 45 years of skiing behind me I have found in any activity that if the kids do what they want to do the results are much much better.

On the buying stuff end a great place to pick up both equipment and soft goods is to go to the various "ski swaps" in your area. They are usally put on by local ski clubs so you can get some great stuff at a great price.
