Seriouslly, it's really hard to stay positive about the ski season when everyones being so pessimstic about the weather. So, share your skiing storys from the past. Describe how your gonna survive till winter sets in babble about anything as long as its not the crappy preseaon we're having, global warming or any of that other negative poo.
Reading this board has actually began to depress me!
I'll start, Had an awesome 2 days at whiteface last week. Came out on Sunday, it was nice and cold but very windy, Gondola was shut down for "maintence" and they were blowing snow. there weren't alot of slopes open but there was a Black (Northway) open so I was pretty happy and got to take my first turns of the seadon. there we're some Icy spots but I'm an east coast skiier I know how to ski on ice. I ski boarded for the first half of the day and then switched over to skis. Let me tell you that was different. I hadn't clicked in to a pair of skis for 2 full seasons and they feel very different from skiboards. After a few runs I started to get the feel of it again but it's going to take so diligence to get back up to speed on them before my Colorado trip in March.
Monday, my legs where way to tired to go skiing Monday. Tuesday morning dawned about 40 degrees calm and sunny. It was a beautiful day on the mountain. I was supposed to meet up with a few people from the SkiADK board at midstation at 10. Unfortunatlly I was running a couple mins late and missed them. As it turns out (after the fact) they where waiting for me inside and I was waiting outside. We had never met each other and probally walked right by each other. To day the gondola was running and the snow that was alittle hard and Icy the previous day had been softened by the sun and was beautiful! I stuck to the Skiboards and did laps from the top of little whiteface. I took my time and enjoyed the scenery that day and took alot of pictures on my new digital camera. If you've never skied WF your missing out on a great mountain with great scenery. All in all a good trip, I wanted to get to more days in while I was up there but Mother Nature felt the water table was to low and she needed to fill it up some. I will drive back up there some time this year when the summit is open for a long weekend.
See how easy it is to be positive?
