This winter sucked and just as we got a tiny little taste of snow, it's about to end. Oh well, maybe we'll have the best winter ever for next season.

I don't know that I'd say it sucked, so much as it blew. It took a while to get going, at least. It's not over yet, though.

Slow start maybe, but this winter is shaping up to be way better than average, for me anyways...

1/2 of it blew and now the second 1/2 has been awsome. Here in northern VT we haven't gone above freezing since early January and the snow quality is amazing. Hopefully March produces some additional big dumpers that I can enjoy after work (daylight savings time rocks!).

if a tiny little taste of snow is over 2 ft. in about a day I'll take a few more tiny little tastes please! Get out and ski...it only ends when you end it!

 What makes you think it's coming to an end? There's still a LOT of skiing to be had!

I think the OP is talking about the paltry amount of snow we've had in CT. But who really cares about that? ;) Go North of I-90 or better yet into NNE for snow. We are on the descent as far as the ski season goes, but many places will be open well into April.

In any case, I'm guessing that snowmaking is done for the season...

Main thing I'm hoping for is a few good storms over the next few weeks. The recent pattern change may mean the end of real cold weather but the same pattern also kept storms away. As long as areas near and north of the Mass. border stay cold enough this change may be for the better...:snow:

In my mind, northern New England
Love the optimism on these boards. It's a season of two halves -- a warm first half, then beginning in mid-January, winter finally. Best consolation is that when it got cold and wintyr in January and February, it stayed that way -- no blizzards followed by r**n like last year. Hoping to stretch out the season to April. In my book, this has been a great season -- late start notwithstanding.

Just to carry the military imagery further: we're not hearing TAPS. That's REVEILLE!

Think snow!

Nothing is over yet. Those who travel to or live in the Northern VT areas will have plenty more time. March is usually one of the snowiest months, besides December which was nothing this year. Here is the snowfall history at Jay(give or take about 12 jay inches) for March and April for the past few years. Looks like some decent totals. Maybe a repeat of 00-01??? As the case has been all season, head north. You will find the snow. Temps here in MA today are around 40, it can be pretty confusing, but as from_the_NEK said, VT is where it is at this season.

Ill just reiterate that March is the best sking month of the year... deep snow-pack..
longer days...and those awesome spring days at the end of the month...It may be over if you ski in Tuxedo, NY... and if you associate end of season with curtailed snowmaking then good you'll be making our lift lines shorter, thanks...more snow for the rest of us

Amen! Last winter was eh compared to the low temps we've had.

It ain't over until I say so!!

Reminds me of pictures from a couple years ago (rivercoil?) - going into tuckermans during summer and skiing patches of snow left over - now that's the spirit :D

We got good bases now, it only gets better from here!! (at least for my poor bases and edges ;) )
