im leaning towards they have lift issues.

On good information, the black lift is ready to go and will be spinning while the red lift is waiting on one final part. After that, red should be in the best shape in years. Agree this is a terrible decision looking at the forecast this weekend.

If the forecast turns out the way it is currently looking, they may have done more business on Friday than they will do all weekend.

Gotta cut them some slack. There have been several circumstances that helped to conspire to mess up this years opening. From what I know:

1) Club plan, and purchase of 20 new, high efficiency portable tower guns, delayed due to VT Securities regulators making sure switch from Share Plan to Club Plan was ok.
2) Green Mountain Power delaying the power turn on, right in the middle of ideal November snowmaking weather.
3) Mother nature switching from "game on!" to "Wash out" right on opening weekend.

Now canceling Friday's opening is a curious and, for many, a plan altering decision that rightly has pissed off a bunch of people. I can only assume that knowing the mountain and current snow pack better than any of us Monday morning quarterbacks, they decided that it could only withstand one day of warmth, premature snow, and skier traffic, and odds were the biggest day would Saturday, so save it for Saturday.

For those of you who are really upset, its the weather thats the real issue!! So please dial up Mother Nature or Ullr and complain! Make sure Santa has cold and snow for Magic on your Christmas list! Do your snow dances!

In any event, in the Christmas spirit and that of the Magic Faithful, benefit of the doubt goes to Jim and team.

THINK SNOW!

I'm tired of wondering/speculating & am just starting fresh. Anyone want to ski tomorrow? I'll also be roaming around tonight for the Twiddle show.

Every other mountain was in the same boat and Magic probably had more snowfall than say a Mad River Glen. I don't buy the BS. They dropped the ball.

Well I'll be there again as well. Actually be there starting tonight right through 1/6. Say hello! Probably on Kastle's or DPS's. Usually bright (not smart) colors.

[/h]Operations/Weather Update: Due to ongoing rain and warm temperatures from this afternoon/evening which are predicted through tomorrow, Magic will suspend operations on Sunday. The Black Line Tavern will be open Sunday starting at 11am for food and drinks. Snowmaking operations will begin anew with colder temps. Thinking colder temps and snow soon!
