Lack of lift line etiquette. Waiting for friends in the line, waiting as a mob so that people can't figure out if you have an open space or not, putting equipment on (or unbuckling) after joining the line, going as a pair and refusing to ride a quad with another pair, ...

Growing up at Holiday Valley, there were always lift attendants at any remotely busy lift whose job was to check tickets and assign groups. It makes a big difference, to the point of people being polite and orderly even when there wasn't an attendant.

Whats wrong with shaped skiis?

He doesn't like them because it makes it easier for mortals to carve turns..On my Atomic LT11s I can get lower than the women listening to Lil Jon and the East Side boyz at da club..ya heard..

People who take their little kids in the terrain park and on expert trails and get in everybodies way..those little kids make great gates and I love to dust them with a huge wake of snow..keep the little kids on the easier terrain until they get better.

People who stop in blind spots..

People who don't follow smartstyle and the skiers responsibilty code..

People who save a table in the lodge for the day with their bags..and then when I move their bags out of the way so I can sit down they bitch at me..

Line cutters

Ski patrollers who are a little too whistle happy..and do the Pocono shuffle

Take a guy that rips the bumps and stick him on a pair of race skis and I would bet with a little practice he could lay down a pretty decent carve, at least to the untrained eye. Not so sure putting your average groomed trail "expert" on a bump ski in the zipper would yield the same result. You just can't fake it in the bumps. The best skiers on the mountain can ski all terrain with proficiency, including bumps. I've never seen a guy that can rip bumps struggle on the groomers or in the trees.

I'm confused. If you take a guy that "rips" at anything and compare them to average anything, well, that's an unfair compairison. IMO, to "rip" you already have to be able to ski anything in the hill, any terrain, condition, lighting etc. I personally don't know of anyone who rips that can't ski bumps, steeps, pow, crud or what have you.

Actually... I have.

There is some component of every kind of alpine turn involved with a single mogul turn. And as Greg pointed out, it is absolutely initiated at the tip. And it's a carved turn, btw.

I think that's why I enjoy skiing with other bump skiers so much. I have yet to find terrain that my fellow bumpers can't ski and ski well. Groomers, trees, pow, cliffs, pillows, crud, hardpack, you name it. The set of skills it takes to successfully link correct mogul turns transfers directly into any other condition or place on the mountain. And we can do it on bump skis with a 66mm waist!

That is all true, but I feel it's easier to get away with a skid here and there in the bumps vs. steeps or trees. Just sayin

You just echoed my point.

People who litter on the mountain. I was APPALLED at the amount of soda bottles, beer cans etc, under the Spruce Peak lift at Sunday River on Sunday.

Mind you, I smoke (hopefully not anymore by next season) and I ALWAYS field strip my butts.

My old roommate weened himself off cigs with weed..

the only time I quit for an extended period, that was part of my 'therapy'. Life circumstances don't allow for the needed thc dosage to consider that option this go around. I'm looking at a number of products, most likely a prescription of Chantix. Probably mid-summer will be my goal to get started. The whole moving / mortgage and busiest two months of the year for work thing is stressful. There's never a good time to try and quit, but sometimes are more optimal than others. We'll give it ago and hopefully I'll be smoke free for next season.
