That Jay thread got me thinking, do you like poutine? It's good, but it's really filling, but I don't get to go to Jay that much so I usually have it everytime I'm there

I like "good" poutine but most poutine sucks. The fries need to be super-crispy... ideally fried in lard like you'd have in Belgium. The cheese curds need to be very fresh so they squeak when you bite into them. The gravy can't just be dehydrated peppery chicken stock & onion.

There's a Montreal chain called Frite Alors that does it right.

I dunno, I've always had a hard time getting over the Curd thing.

Going to Europe in the summer, I used to LOVE dipping french fries in Mayonnaise. Talk about a heart attack on a plate ....

....Great. Now, at 10 a.m. I am craving Poutine.

+1 on the quality of the curd and gravy. Not sure how she does it but my Grandmother makes to-die-for poutine.

Pineland Farms in New Gloucester has great cheese curd that they sell in their factory store. I have seen it a couple times at the Cabot factory in VT from time to time.

I've been in a hospital bed living off clear liquids the past three days. So yes, I would love some right meow.

Oui. Toujours, oui.

If you're in Montreal, I recommend La Banquise. Also, try the poutine at Au Pied de Cochon.

The one at Jay is alright but the best I had at a ski area was at the GLC in Whistler. It was topped with pulled pork.

Where do you get cheese curd? I never see it around here at all. In MA anyway.

Love the squeak from a good cheese curd, though!!!

They have them at some Hannafords. I bet they would at the Hannafords in Manchester, NH due to the large French population in the city. You might want to check the Whole Foods in Andover as well.

Most French Fries suck because they aren't double fried for that perfect blend of tender on the inside, crispy on the outside.

I recently purchased a new deep fryer and the thing is dangerous to have around. Super easy to clean and has an awesome feature; once the oil cools, it automatically gets filtered and drained into a container that stores right under the unit for the next use. No pouring the oil through cheese cloth into tupperware for future use.

I think it's as good as you'll find on the market for home use. You can even get the exact same model with Emeril's name on it for an additional $50.

On Amazon for $99 with prime shipping.

Price went down about $15 since I got it last month on Amazon. I paid $115. Ordered mine though Amazon with points from my Chase CC. Pretty slick you can now use Chase points direct on Amazon instead of having to order limited merchandise direct from their Rewards website.

Yup, both the wife and I have amazon.com cards and can combine pts. She uses hers for travel at work. I am halfway there to this.
