Anyone else?

If you aren't..........make you're own damn thread.

Don't post in mine or I'll use my modthority and delete it.

for real, just interested in meeting up with Ragged pass holders this season or if you don't have a pass and plan on skiing there, give me a shout when you go.

if you're not a Ragged skier, but have a 'home' mountain somewhere, perhaps you want to post a similar thread. After all, offline is where the real fun happens

Ya'll should post a similar thread concerning your home mountains. You never know what other members plan on frequenting there.

I really didn't start skiing with other Azers until last season, but had a blast. That was the inspiration for this thread.

I really hope we get one of those winters where a place like Ragged and other smaller ski areas thrive. In my 40+ years of skiing some of my favorite days have been spent at places that are off many peoples radar like Dartmouth, Whaleback, etc. I enjoy the big boys as well but in those winters where the natural snow is deep and the mountains are pretty much 100% open I really enjoy the vibe of some of the smaller to medium size ski areas. It's one of the reasons that 2 of my trips up to New England that I'm planning are in the undecided catagory. I will decide where to ski in the days leading up to those trips. A good snow year and Ragged would be on the radar.

Not a pass holder anywhere this year, but in cases of midweek dumps, this is where I'll be headed. I distinctly remember my doctor telling me I was going to TOTALLY be sick those days, and should stay away from coworkers. And something about snow making a good fever icepack..

Yea.. That's my story, and I'm stickin to it.

2008-2009?

My only trip to Ragged was mid-Feb '08, and it was fantastic. The mountain was 100% open, we got a couple inches of refresher around mid-day, and the glades, especially Double and Triple Take off the back of the mountain, were loads of fun. That was also where I did my first tree skiing after picking the sport back up.

Definitely would like to make it back again sometime this year, but it depends on snow conditions. I wanted to go last year, but the only times I was up north, were in snow droughts so I went elsewhere.

Good luck forming a crew. Maybe the Ragged crew will out-post the Sundown crew and take some of the heat off us.

Do they seed bumps? ;)

A former groomer from Sundown actually works at Ragged. Chris Sullivan sent me a message with the guys email. I told Chris he needed to plant some 'seeds' for me.

If I don't see decent bumps by mid-January I'm going to start spamming the groomer big time.

Just popped over to chat with one of the guys who's been ski patrol up at Ragged. To his knowledge, he's never seen them intentionally seed.

Betcha areas off of Exhibition or Showboat could be seeded with Hay pretty easy.

I had a great time there last year in the glades. I'll try to go back this season and drop you a line if I do.

+1 had a damn fine time in the woods too. I'll be back, you've got my numba!

Just don't bail out of the woods onto easy winder. It's a PITA on skis and damn near impossible on a board. can you say f-l-a-t? The ravine, from either side is dee place to be...

the idea of resort-specific threads is intriguing....

I was there when it is warm and ended up on Easy Winder. Man, did it suck.

I was there later in the season last year. I hadn't ever gone down it, so I tried. And half way down, took my skis off and started to talk. Literally.

Lots of local families are making the switch from Sunapee to Ragged. Hard to pass up the deals but.......harder to pass up the seeded bumps at the other mountain .

I'd be up for a day or two at Ragged though. I'll hit you up later in the season.

Ragged does have some incredible low angle bumps. Never seen them seeded though but perfectly consistent moderate pitch for 1000+ vert.
