Marc you have it down. I asked it you had a pass in the Killington trip folder, because you said you were up for the whole weekend. There will be a few around for the entire weekend. The ASC pass seems to me to be a no brainer. I use it augment my threedom pass. Multi pass holders... got to love the attitude. Terry will pop in sometime on this also. He has the ASC bronze and the Shawnee full time.

Yeah, it's the only option I could imagine doing at the moment. Couldn't imagine how much I'd spend feeding my addiction on day passes *shudder*. If I ever move closer to NH I'd consider the threedom pass as well... I like the mountains but like I said about proximity.

I'll probably only hit Sugarloaf once this year and Sunday River once or twice. Have to make sure I get all six areas though.

I'll go check the other thread...

Season Pass & AZ Introduction

ASC Bronze Pass for wifey and myself, (2nd year in a row) bought before May to get the slightly cheaper price, and the ability to ski on a few blackout dates.

I spend most of my ski days at Attitrash and Sunday River, while generally hitting Wildcat on blackout dates/busy weekends/fresh snow days. (plus the odd trips to burke, cannon, sugarloaf, anywhere I can convince my friends or wife to drive. Oh, and the early season days at Killington)

Also, I should take this opportunity to introduce myself, I've been lurking on AZ for a while now.
My name is Coleman, from Boston, confirmed ski nut, etc.

I grew up skiing most winter weekends in the Whites, (starting around 4 or so)and after a 10 year or so hiatus picked the habit up again a few years ago.

Anyone who is up in the N.Conway/Bartlett/Jackson/Gorham/Bethel area this winter and wants to get together and ski,let me know.
I'm typically up every weekend with the wife and a few friends.

If any AZ listers have spent any apres-ski time at Moat Mountain brewery, in Intervale/N.Conway we may have already met.

sounds like you're on the same plan as me - Attitash most of the time, SR occasionally and Wildcat on blackout dates. Pick up a WildCard. 3 days for the price of 2. I will pick up one of those, in addition to my ASC bronze.

I'm up about 3 out of every 4 weekends. We own a place in Intervale off 16A, down by Hartmann Train Museum.

Yeah, I got a Wildcard last year, ended up skiing 6-7 days there with the $25 next day tickets.
Once the season is roaring (feb-march) I tend to ski mostly at Sunday River, as I'm bored to tears w/Attitash. This year that may be reduced to Sundays only, and driving back from ME, due to the cost of gas.

16A, I know it well. I love to take the Dundee road connection from Jackson when it's open.

We're up on Glen Ledge Road, off 16, right after Storyland and before Nordic village.

my trips to SR will be few and far between. I ski solo a lot, so the drive there and back alone is tough. Cost of gas is rather prohibitive, too. I ski mostly Attitash because it's close, I have the pass, and if my wife decides to ski, she hates Wildcat (otherwide I'd have a pass there).

yup, where the Exxon is. We used to rent a house on Rivers Bend, almost across the street. Never been down the road, but I know where it is.

we're the first right off Dundee from the Intervale side. We had wanted to get into Whispering Brook (close to Rivers Bend), but this chalet sort of fell in our laps.

I'm getting a Smuggs pass because it's pretty cheap and one of the best/most underrated mtns in the East.

I was looking into Sugarbush but $1000 is just ridiculous and I don't want to be confined to Ellen.

I would say Smuggs is the most underrated mountain in the East. I love it there.

Sugarbush has a strangle hold on all the condo owners there. I now thay could ski MRG, but you know they're going to buy a SB pass. It's a great mountain, but they are out of line with the trend for cheaper season passes.

Madonna 1 is a brutally cold (it actually goes on cold hold - it's been known to hit -70 up top) and windy and slow lift.

Seventy below?  Are you the guy who made the same claim about Mt Ellen? 70 BELOW with WINDCHILL I buy, but -70F Ambient Air Temperature I dispute. It does not get that cold on Washington or anywhere on earth.

burke pass for me. first time pass buyer too.

came down to cannon or burke. burke gives me half off cannon but not the other way around and cannon was more expensive. also free jay mid-week and half off at balsams and dartmouth which are both on my to do list. burke is closer to work too making half days a lot easier to swing without having a 50+ minute drive to get there. more time on the road equals less time skiing. also, cannon gets tracked out quick and isn't as much fun without some recent natural snow whereas the snow stays better longer and they get more of it at burke. plus, i can still nail cannon on powder days for $25 which is a great price. picking a mad card for three days at MRG this weekend to round out my pre-season purchases.

Wating in line another great point. You can avoid a lodge all together if you boot up at your car.
heh, i forgot people actually waited in lines for lift tickets! seriously, only time i have ever waited in line for a lift ticket in all the years i have been skiing was last year at killington and three years ago at ragged (day after a big storm so the crowd was pretty big). never took that into consideration with my pass buying decision but i can see how that convenience would be a factor at busier areas.

Having said that, I've heard good things about Wildcat and Cannon but haven't been to either so I may take a day trip up to each of those.
cannon's NH pass is dirt cheap. if you are down for smuggs for the reasons i think you are, i am sure you can find stuff at cannon that you will enjoy. i'd be glad to show you some if you make it up this winter.

Currently have a Wachusett century pass? Why? Because I go there 20 times an its paid for in 5 visits.

In 2 years, I hope to be going to college at either Plymouth (which would put me near Tenney, Franconia, Conway, etc) or Lyndon State (the goodness of VT). That'll add 2 to that list in a couple of years.

Season Pass?

I bought the ASC Bronze because it is a "no brainer" for me. Buying it early also took off one blackout day, but I likely won't use it because I am a MID-WEEK skier since I am retired. I will use it mostly at Snow, Killington, and Pico. I have also resolved to try to make it to Sunday River and or Sugarloaf some time this season and use the pass there. I also just bought the Hunter "Big Lift Card" for $29.95. It comes with a "Free" lift ticket and gives you a tremendous discount for both midweek and weekend tickets. It also entitles you to ski for $23 on Tuesdays and free in April. I also purchased the Jiminy "Value Card" for $33. This baby comes with a "Free" lift ticket if you buy it before Nov 1st, and then it gives you $15 off any of their various lift ticket options. Midweek ends up at $29 with the card, and on "State Days" (NY for me) I get another $5 off; knocking it down to $24. That's a winner for me. Besides these, I will go to a ski show in late October and torture the exhibitors into giving me some additional "freebies" and discounts. The are usually very generous in that regard.

As BobR said earlier I will reply also. My wife, daughter and I all have the bronze ASC pass, and also a family pass to Shawnee Peak. The ASC is a no brainer- half hour to Attitash, 45 minutes to Sunday River, about 2 and a half to the Loaf. Shawnee Peak is 15 minutes from home, 10 minutes from work so I get in a lot of night skiing and every weekend from early Nov - May 1st. Can't beat it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

cool, Im thinkin about goin to lyndon, but just dont feel right goin to a state school. Random question: Am insane to go to a state school with a 3.8 gpa, or is it worth it because it will be so much cheaper?

If either of you have any questions about my hometown or LSC, please let me know  I have lots of friends who went to LSC.

As for schools, focus on what you WANT TO DO and less on other things. If you have that GPA you are eligible for more scholarship money. Remember LSC's strengths: meterology, TV journalism, and recreation/ski resort management!
