Not sure how many other SFU fans are out there, but if you have to watch TV (and most of it sucks, IMO) then Six Feet Under was one of the few programs worth watching.

Yeah, the show got more melodramatic in the last couple seasons compared to the first seasons, but the finale last night was tremendous. This was a unique TV program, dealing with difficult topics (death, family, love, loyalty) and you have to admit you never saw similar TV anywhere else.

Anyone else catch the finale last night?

Big fan of the show, I think I've only missed 2 episodes during its run. I thought the extra 15 minutes last night was very well done, however, I'm not impressed by the actual final episode. A lot of sobbing, crying, boo-hoo stuff, and all the "issues" (David's, Brenda's, Ruth's etc) seemed to get wrapped-up a little too easily and neatly.

And what the hell happened to Rico? You get the impression he and Vanessa bought the Funeral home, but I would've liked to have seen more about them. Also, Why was Maggie in a waiting room? What was up with her?

Hmmmmmm.....

I guess the assumption is that Rico and Vanessa did buy a business of their own. And then at the end, Rico is shown (from a distance and from behind) as an old man dropping dead on the deck of a cruise ship.

I thought the wrapping up of the loose story ends was well-done. The show had definitely become more of a soap opera the last couple years, but I still thought it was well-done. And the last several minutes where you got to see each character's death was initially shocking (Keith getting blown away!!) but eventually was handled with typical Alan Ball tenderness as it unfolded. I thought it was great.....and I'll miss the show.

I watched the first & second season of SFU and watched a few episodes from the other seasons including the last 4 of the final season.

I have some questions for you fans, so I can have "closure".

1. I thought Keith was married (to a female) and had kids. They are never mentioned.

2. Brenda's new child retained here last name of Chenowith. Was the child Nate's?

3. Who was Maya's biological mother?

Thanks....

I thought it meant that she was pregnant from Nate's seed.

The last 15 minutes were mesmerizing. The song they played during that last part was great. In case you want to download it, it is Breathe Me by Sia. The album is Colour the Small One.

My favorite HBO show is Deadwood. I can't wait for those @*#! $*&@ers to come back for the third season.

Keith and his partner David are gay characters and have been together since the first season. There has never been a female love interest for either on the show. They adopted 2 boys.

2. Brenda's new child retained her last name of Chenowith. Was the child Nate's?

Nate was the baby's father. Who knows what motivates Brenda?

3. Who was Maya's biological mother?

Nate's dead wife, Lisa. She was an old girlfriend from Seattle that he knocked up and had to marry. Understandably, this caused some problems. She was killed off in the 4th season.

Keith was banging a female rock star this season when he was working security for her. Other woman he had sex with have also been mentioned in different episodes. I think Keith was a switch hitter, but batted for a much higher average with men.

I really thought Keith had biological children (boy & girl) and was divorced. I thought they visited on the weekends in a couple of episodes. This going back a couple of seasons.

I will have to see if I can find the episode guides online.

The kids (other than Durell nad Anthony) were his neice (Taylor) and nephew (I forget) His sister had a drug problem, and Keith helped out with the kids.

David was engaged to a woman prior to the 1st season, it helped the back-story of his "coming-out"

Willa (Brenda's Bio daughter) had the last name of Chenowith for 2 reasons

1. Nate screwed Maggie before he died and Brenda knew, also, just before he died, he told Brenda he was done with her.

2. Brenda was already a widow before Willa was born, no reason really to give her the Fischer name.

Yes, Willa was Nate's Bio daughter.

Maya's bio-mother was Lisa from season 4. However, it is possible that Nate wasn't the father. Lisa was having an affair with her brother-in-law, Hoyt, who killed her and himself.

Despite the melodrama, I really liked this show. I became a big fan of Alan Ball right after I saw American Beauty.

I HATED American Beauty when I first saw it. I was disturbed by the whole tone and resolution of that movie. Maybe I'm naive, but I was appalled to think that that movie was describing the typical American suburban lifestyle. It was boxed-in, tense, hopelessly bleak, and I didn't agree that that was the world I live in, being the suburban Dad that I am. I've seen it once since it came out, and have mellowed somewhat in my take on it (althought the actors are all terrific). I thought American Beauty went a little too far. It was shocking without much upside.

Six Feet Under was twisted but kept its humanity there was always a sense of hopefulness. Maybe Ball has changed his perpsective a little - ?

My $.02.

I can see why you'd feel that way about it. I guess that's why I liked it. It was just so.....much. Yeah, it was pretty far from realistic, but I don't know, maybe it was the shock value...

SFU was a great show that dealt with tough topics. The final episode made me figure out which year I thought will die (2050). Thats if I make it to 80.

Kieth had his sisters daughter while she was in drug rehab. Perhaps that what you were thinking.

I hope Woo gets his own spinoff show when Deadwood ends.
I'm really looking forward to Rome.
