I'm a big guy, almost 6'1" and just under 200 pounds. 3-4 beers spaced over 2 hours does not get me drunk. Also you can't forget its not like you are sitting idle while drinking. Since you are active your body (or at least mine) processes the alcohol much quicker and as a result any effects of the alcohol diminishes faster. I don't see a problem with it if you remain in control and know your limits

One thing you should be cautious of is if you get in an accident. Even if it wasn't your fault, you can get in some serious trouble, maybe even sued if you get an accident and the ski patrol, or other person finds out you've been drinking. Just some food for though.

How much alcohol consumption increases measured BAC depends on a whole bunch of factors. A person's weight is pretty obvious. The bigger you are the less that a constant amount of alcohol will increase BAC. But there's also the fat issue. Alcohol is water soluble but not fat soluble. The more that a person's weight is composed of fat rather than muscle, the more a constant amount of alcohol will raise their BAC. It is for that reason that the same amount of alcohol generally increases the BAC of women more than men, even at the same weight. Additionally, there is some evidence that women actually metabolize alcohol differently than men. Drinking on an empty stomach will increase BAC faster than drinking with a meal or on a full stomach and certain kinds of foods affect the absorbtion of alcohol differently. And keep in mind that not all beers and wines are created equally. Most healthy adults metabolize approximately .5 oz of ethonal per hour, that's about 12 oz. of beer at 4.0%, 4 oz. of wine at 12%, or 1.25 oz of 80 proof liquor. So if you drink one an hour you can go quite a while without raising your BAC very high.

that doesn't qualify as big... just sayin...

I didn't realize there was a standard on what qualifies as big. All I was saying was that with my size, tolerance, and time period, i can handle my alcohol. Simple

Gotta chime in on this one. I really, really, like drinking and all that goes with it. But, everything has a place and time. While skiing I will enjoy 2-3 beers for lunch (yup liquid kind) along with some kinda nutty bar thingamajig, but always along side the truck in the parking lot. Really don't like going inside while skiing. After skiing, well, that's when the tailgating starts---let the fun begin.:-D

One beer during a break (longer than a lift ride) probably wouldn't be an issue. I've still never done it. But reading about people having 2-3 or 3-4 drinks during a ski day really freaks me out.

2-4 beers is not alot of beer..it shouldn't freak you out because more people than you'd expect drink that much when they ski. I little buzz isn't going to kill you..getting wasted is different..judging by all the empty cans and bottles under the lift at Blue mountain..alot of people enjoy some liquid refreshment while skiing....Plus a good percentage of skiers like to blaze marijuana while skiing and riding..

A lot for a night at a bar? No. Four within a couple hours when engaging in a dangerous activity that relies on physical control and reflexes, where you are putting yourself and others at risk? That's too much in my opinion, and yes, it does freak me out that people would ski after doing that. (And now I'm serious about me being done with this thread :) )

Sometimes ya' just gotta to get through the experience; like when I do the social skiing thing at the big Bore. That breakfast bullit on the first Northwoods gondi is the only way to help me forget that I have to spend the day there. What price tele friends.

BTW Kcyank, are you sure you're not a lapsed mormon?

Yes I'm sure. I'm not against drinking. I like to go out drinking with friends. I'm against drinking and skiing (or driving).

I go real fast when I'm skiing under the influence of Chrstal Meth, man. But really slow on opiates.

I met a couple guys skiing on acid at Camleback at night a long time ago...
Also met some guys at Tuckermans skiing on shrooms...

They all seemed ok... For the most part... I kept a wide berth
