My surfer gymnast daughter picked it up in a day. My older not a gymnast son was almost there in a day as well. But they both prefer to ski.

The first two days are pretty rough but by the third most people usually can start linking turns. After that, the progression is really fast. I skied my whole life but can't imagine myself ever going back now.

Agree with previous comments that after the inital hump, it is easier to progress faster boarding. That was my experience at least, but maybe was helped from years of skiing and also surfing / wakeboarding.

I was a skier, switched to boarding for about a year or so during the "pre having kids" years when i was going up pretty much every weekend and got to the point where I would say I was equal in ability skiing / boarding. Then spent a couple of years doing about 50/50... whatever struck me on the morning that I was heading out.

Now I pretty much exclusively ski, except for maybe one day I year I might grab a board for a change of pace.

I find skiing more fun and prefer not having to deal with unbuckling, traversing, etc.
