snowboarders as a legally protected class is hilarious.

a snowboarder trying to get out to catherines or devils would be a nightmare. even just the traverse between collins and sugarloaf would be a nightmare

snowboards are inferior tools for traveling in snowy terrain.

Hey, ever see one on the 10 mile run? Not good

Was it really 10 miles? No, this would fall under the legal relief of huffing. For example:

Our pumpikns are the best in the world.
We have the steepest longest run in the Northeast.

It's allowed as these are not material lies.

If the travel is entirely downhill with reasonable pitch and the snow is deep, they're probably superior; if the snow is at least soft-ish and the pitch reasonable, I don't think they're inferior.

In rolling or flat terrain, though, they absolutely suck.

thats way too many ifs. snowboards are toys. skis are utilities. skis can go up and down, in all kinds of snow conditions, for better or worse.

First few days I was at Alta getting dragged around by veteran instructors I quickly learned-

Down=flat
traverse=skis on hike for 10 minutes
short bootpack=45 minute ordeal
In my 12 years out here I have yet to do the East Castle….

As a snowboarder, if I was chatting with another rider on a lift that legitimately told me they cared about the absurdly small number of areas that don't allow us I'd be highly tempted to push them off

I have serious respect for the pro snowboarders who fly down super steep terrain. When they have the ice axe in one hand and its a no fall zone that takes alot of skill and balls.

During my time living and skiing in Jackson as well as other locations most of my riding partners were snowboarders. I was always inspired by there powder riding style and tried to emulate that even while still on the old, skinnier skis. I can confidently say that there are plenty of snowboarders that can handle traverses, boot packs and other back country travel type situations better than most skiers can.

Don't be a skiing bigot. It makes us all look bad.

There are tens of thousands snowboarders better at going up and down than you.

im not talking about splitboarding, and there are obviously tons of really adept snowboarders on splitboard set-ups.

i am talking about alpine skis and regular snowboards. snowboards are just limiting in how they approach terrain, unless that terrain is downhill.

plenty of great snowboarders. i ride with a couple sometimes. but they get stuck in stupid places that would be no prob on skis. and returning to the subject of the comment, alta is chockful of those places.
