All hills are at the go line after this cycle.

Let see who can recover the quickest.

Currently whiteface mountian earning its name. The guns are blasting(they laid the snowmakers off) and everything is getting a top coating. I am guessing all intermediate trails and down are going to be pretty decent by the am. I hope they get to some diamonds. I dont bet on hopes.

K-mart?

Hidden Valley in Jersey will be blowing tonight. The cover today was still really good because they had blown a ton of snow over the cold 6 weeks that we had but today it was bulletproof.

KMart resurfaced Cascade today. I was on it from 2:00 to 4:00. They also did some spot areas like lower High Road from Snowshed down to Needles Eye and some spots on Great Eastern around the top of the Needles Eye lift. Outer Limits is all set up and ready to go. The wind got at the 5" of heavy snow that fell yesterday early evening. Some things were good. Some things were pretty wind scoured.

Maintain what you have.

Areas need to learn how to maintain what they have. If areas have to resurface piste with snowmaking then they are not groomng correctly. Grooming will help but the sub-surface will always be frozen hard packed ice. If they make snow it should be for increasing base depths or building up weak areas.

Here's what Mount Snow looked like from my deck around 10PM Friday night. The only lights that aren't fan guns are the really bright ones in the middle which was 3 cats working Upper Exhibition/Lodge. Also, this doesn't show the fan gun lights that are running on Nitro and Lower Titanium over at Carinthia. Seriously, this is the most number of fan guns lights that I've seen Mount Snow running at once! Impressive!

That is a man made snow storm. It looks like there are about 70 guns going in tha pic. Do they also have other ones going without lights on them?

ShamWow! Nice pic Jeff! That puts it in perspective! Guess they meant business yesterday when they said they'd be firing up the fan guns again.

Again.

If your making snow for a resurface your wasting valuable resource. Areas need to learn to maintain piste thourgh grooming. I can see making snow to increase base depths or cover areas were not enough snow was made. Hats of to Mt. Snow with the show blowin. Grooming and maintaining your piste is alot cheaper than making snow for just resurfacing.

MRG: 44/45 trails open.
Whiteface: 53/80 trails open.

So I bet those natural snow trails over at Iceface are skiing pretty nicely, huh?
