Well I believe the marketing department's extensive trail expansion at Stowe since last year has finally been accounted for with there online trail report and interactive trail map. I didn't count to see if they added up to 116 but there are lots of new trail names listed in their snow report.

I actually sent them an email saying I had been going there for years and hadn't heard of them adding 68 new trails this summer. There response was we always had 116 trails, we just marketed 48 slopes

Well Stowe has about the same acerage as Sugarbush and Sugarbush has 112 trails..does it really matter...Stowe is a great mountain whether they claim 40 trails or 2,000...

Skiable acreage is close, but Stowe only has 39 miles of trails, whereas Sugarbush has 53. I think mileage is a much more differentiating metric in New England than acreage is.

If I was naming the trails, Sugarbush would probably have around 75 or 80 legit trails. Just like Stowe has 49 legit trails. I'm disappointed in this move on Stowe's part, because that was one part of their operation that I really respected: honesty in trail count. But now you can throw that right out the window. Bye bye.

Both are awesome mountains...I can afford to ski at SB though...unless I keep getting free tix to Stowe, which is not likely anytime soon.
