Orange peels are as bad as plastic for non-degradability.

I think it's okay to throw some props someone's way after a nice run or spectacular crash, but that's about it. I did catch a snowball from a kid while I was on a lift. I threw it back. He didn't catch it so well.

People are always like "But they're biodegradable"...
And I always say... "Yeah - in Florida"

THANK YOU!!!

Thats always annoyed me, then last year I had to walk down both main lift lines at my local hill picking up all the crap on New Year's day. Apparently some of the customers were having a very happy New Year the night before...

Yeah, I was about to amend my answer as well to say that one could throw their buddy/chairmate who was littering...throw them and see how they like it

Yes, I remember that fire on Whiteface...took place in the spring or summer if I recall.

Have you even seen the garbage targets they fence off at Mountain
Creek. You'll be going along on the lift and next thing you see is a fenced in square with shit loads of beer cans in it. Why are people drinking beers on a lift anyway? Lodge is a different story.

i was quite worried when i saw the topic title. thank you dmc for setting the record straight on something many boneheads do not seem to properly understand. few things are more annoying than seeing something being dropped from a chair. especially cigarette butts as people shouldn't be smoking on the lifts any ways (at least in my opinion. quite frankly, so many people are annoyed by being forced to breathe someone else's smoke for 7 minutes straight. it is not even like on flatland in which you can walk away from a smoker or at least position yourself up wind. okay, enough ranting for now :) ).

You would be amazed at the amount of crap that is thrown off of a lift. Ride a lift in the spring or early summer and look at the trail of debris. Cig packs, gatorade bottles, drink cups and candy wrappers seem to be the popular items.

sad

Then there are the things sadly misplaced:

- Gloves
- Hats
- snapped ski poles

Remember the olden daze, when skis would fall off when we were farting around with the adjustments, or when people didn't secure their bindings "just right"?

If you were a real jerk, you could also make your ski bud's day by giving the ski a good hard whack (or a quick easy pry to the binding release), leaving it dangling by the retaining strap. Do it just before the dismount ramp for more effect. Nothing more interesting than trying to get off the lift with one ski on, the other still affixed to the boot with a strap.... These are the same people that litter under the lift....

Ride the Montezuma lift at Keystone in Late March-April and You'll see quite an assortment of beads, thongs and panties hanging from the trees

True... Any ski area that has an underwear tree...
I think it's OK to toss underwear... Only girls though... ;)

We've often though about throwing a big pair of granny panties on the underwear tree at Hunter...
