A run or two with an insider would be much appreciated... I'll update our plans and PM Friday evening asking for a meeting location if you remain interested and available.

Sounds fine. Which side are you going to be skiing? Also keep in mind that there is no cell phone service for much of SB. Verizon just put in a temporary tower at Lincoln Peak base, but that's it. What kind of terrain do you like?

Was unaware of cell phone issues, good to know. We generally like bumps until our legs tire. I have skied North a lot more than South (but neither in 15+ years), so we will probably want to explore South. When I have skied South, it has largely been off of the Heaven's Gate lift- ripcord, organgrinder, spillsville and paradise (quite fun), so we will probably look towards other stuff, such as Castlerock for a bit, than under the Valley House (Mall, Steins, Twist), and maybe some stuff off the North Lynx . However, if the crowds are overwhelming at South, we might prefer Mt. Ellen (if the crowds there tend to be smaller?????).

While I would enjoy a moderate tree run (nothing too crazy), my partners are not tree guys (largely due to lack of helmets).

That has not been my experience. Depends on your carrier. I'm on Sprint & I get good reception on the mountain at Lincoln Peak. It is spotty on the Access Rd. but I get good reception in-town in Waitsfield.

Verizon Wireless is not. I know that Beano and others have had problems with their carriers as well. Not sure about Unicell.

Understood. I don't believe Madroch mentioned what carrier he's using. If AT&T, it shouldn't give him too much trouble at Sugarbush.

OK. Not sure it really matters...I was just pointing it out since a lot of folks have Verizon Wireless and if he wanted to meet up with me, calling me isn't going to work. Just trying to help out. I know last year Beano, Andy Zee, and some other folks were grumbling about cell service at SB. There was a bit of a discussion about this.

I don't want to make a big issue out of this & I don't imagine Greg or 2knees does either. But your first post on this subject (above) suggested that there is no cell phone service of any kind for much of SB. I think Greg, 2knees & I were just trying to point out that this is not entirely accurate. I agree with you that many people do have Verizon as their carrier so in that sense your post is useful info if it was limited to Verizon coverage. That's all from me on this issue.

   It looks like folks to get out and ski rather than pick apart day-old posts between two individuals on a thread that hasn't had much traffic.

Madroch is trying to link up with me and the context was that if he was trying to find me we needed to plan ahead via PM's and such rather than place a phone call to me because he is not going to be able to find me on my Verizon Wireless phone.

The clarification is appreciated...not being a dick here...but I think having three guys jump into this two-party conversation is a bit of an overkill.

I'm planning on skiing this weekend, Madroch, and hope we can get together...but I may not be able to receive your call at the mountain if you can place it.

I've been getting plenty of skiing in, thanks. It didn't click that you were talking about you not having cell coverage since you use Verizon. I thought you were making a general statement to madroch that he shouldn't expect coverage without even knowing his carrier. Communication breakdown apparently, literally.

TB - as you said The Bush just put in a Verizon COW(cellular on wheels) so if you meet up at LP, no problem. No Verizon service at Mellen..yet.

AT&T also just got fired up with the Unicel merger so AT&T is a go as well. For the past week all the cell phone people have been running around here giddy like they won the lottery or something. iphones just went on sale in Vermont, crackberrys are popping up everywhere. Yup, modern technology is finding the valley.

The state is even hatching a very interesting plan for complete statewide service by 2010 combining hundreds of home sized wind turbines with cell towers.

Despite telling Greg last night I was on AT&T, turns out I am verizon, so it may be an issue (new phone with new job- I don't pay the bills so never paid attention to the carrier). As we firm up plans today, I will PM Trail boss with details and my cell. Appreciate the offer of a couple of runs trailboss-- any chance you can show us the goods from your last report-- or are they reserved for locals? Seeing as I only get up there once every 15 years of so, the secret is safe with me! Actually, we are not woods guys, so we won't press you.

Madroch--we can probably visit some woods if you want. I am not sure if I am going to be there tomorrow if it is really cold.......we'll see. I usually just ski whatever. On a typical day, I do a little bit of everything, but mainly on piste.
