Sugarbush Feb 21 to 24th, some questions

Coming down to Sugarbush Feb 21st to 24th from Montreal for the first time. Still ironing out details, so I need some input. The problem I am running into is my GF may not be able to make the trip, so I may end up having to do the trip solo. Luckily, I did not prebook a condo as I know those days will be really wide open for lodging options. If I am solo, I will probably stay at the Golden Lion since I do not need to be located in a ski in ski out location. I will just leave my lunch in the car, run by and grab it midday, and eat it up on the mountain somewhere.

Now my question, I had intended to use a bunch of 2 for 1 coupons for our tickets. Since I may be solo, I may have to hang around in front of the ticket booth to see if I can share a ticket with someone, saving us both $40. Would the hill have a problem with that do you think?

Also, what are the good places to grab a beer and pub food at night, maybe sports bar type place?
Does the shuttle run even on quiet weekday nights? Would like to go and and have a few beers in the evenings, but not an option if I have to drive. Not looking to get silly smashed, just sit down, watch some olympics and have a few pops. Unless of course the Golden Lion is within walking distance of anything interesting.

Terra Rossa is close if you want to sit at the bar. They have really good wood fired pizza and one tv at the bar. Not a sports bar, but good food. Hostel Tevere is a bit of a younger crowd, also close. Maybe you can walk, you would have to decide, though. For driving, you could go to the Hyde Away (10 min or so from GL) or Den (10 min)

You can walk to Hostel Tevere from the Golden Lion. Their bar is only about two blocks south of here. Be very careful doing it in the dark, though, since you have to walk along Route 100.

ETA: Make sure you mention you're an AZer when making your reservation, so I can give you the price break.

Thanks! I should know by Thursday whether I am doing the trip solo or not. If I am alone, I will definitely be booking into the Golden Lion to try it out.

Lion is nice stay there often, but if your running solo and want a bar on location check out the Slidebrook Tavern Inn. http://www.slidebrooklodge.com/. Personally, never stayed there but it might suit your needs more when flying solo. It is right on German Flats road which runs between Lincoln Peak and Ellen.

I am more inclined to solicit 2 fers in the parking lot, or at least a some distance from the ticket booth, unless their are a lot of people milling about. Being discrete matters.

Slidebrook looks like a good place to listen to some music and have a few drinks...I may drop by one night, but the Lion seems to be a more affordable room deal for me. The slidebrook is $120, golden lion is around $90. I can apply that $30 difference to my lift ticket. Yup, it makes a difference, as I intend to be skiing a lot over the next 2 months and need to work within my budget. Some people take 1 or maybe 2 ski trips per year, so they do not mind dropping major $$$. I start skiing as soon as the hills open and take 2 trips every month plus skiing at my local hill the other weekends. It adds up fast! Generally, I stay at hills around quebec, but venture down to the US for a few trips every year for the different vibe.

Thanks for the etiquette lesson; each hill is different and I did not want to annoy anyone. There is a hill up here that actually has no issue if you just hang out until the next paying customer shows up, and you can split any coupon with them. I will just do the parking lot skulk when I am down there. Heck, who is going to say no to saving $40?

You'd be surprised. Tried this at Sugarloaf some years back and everyone thought I was a scalper. Also remember, people often pay debit/credit, so they'd need cash for the split most likely, which limits the amount of folks willing to go in.

Just ask to each pay half of the price at the ticket window. I have never had an issue doing that at the ticket booth.

Just come with cash and hand it to him/her, let him/her use his card to pay.
