weeks??? I got an e-mail from the Vail folks 8 days ago reporting 7" at Beaver Creek and 6" at Vail. There was one week fairly recently where I got 7 notifications in 10 days. They are having their best season in decades. Trust me, you will have nothing to complain about once you get there, even if they haven't had snow in a week or so.

I was there last week and although no major dumps where reported the mountains got snow, some more then others. We stayed at Breck, on the day we went to Maryjane, Breck had nothiing new, but when we got to MJ thay had about 7" new. Same thing happened ay Vail. Conditions are great there, you have nothing to worry about.

Funny how things work out. I got back from Colorado on a Thursday, went to Whiteface on Sat. and WF had the most powder I skied all week.

Mary Jane got 300 inches this year already. 25 feet worth of snow. they have a 7 foot base. This is their best season in years. I've heard the whole county is doing just as well. my friends in Vail and Copper say its an epic season.
I was there about a month ago. we got 6 - 8 new inches everyday. didnt get the mind blowing powder day but damn it was still awesome. going back at the end of the month.
dont worry and Have fun. hope you get a major dump'in.

drifter, did you get a chance to ski any of the terrain acessed by the new lift on peak 8?

I did, the Imperial Chair. It takes you quite a ways up above the the T bar.. The terrain that the lift serves is great, the only problem is it's very exposed to wind. The snow gets a little wind blown funky, but it's still alot of fun.

I would not pay much attention to snow reports, it was 70 degrees Monday in Denver and record high 76 on Tuesday yet 70miles away Breck got 8 inches of snow that night. I dont think you will be disappointed with any of the front range mountains.

This is the beauty of Colorado summed up in 2 sentences. If it were only like that regarding Boston and the mountains of New England.

See Roemer's comments below regarding the West:

VERY ACTIVE WEATHER PATTERN OVER THE NEXT 10 DAYS--

SNOWBIRD/ALTA--- SATURDAY STORM OF 5-10 INCHES AT SNOWBIRD, AND THEN SNOWFALL MEASURED IN FEET, MID NEXT WEEK, AND NEXT WEEKEND. FREEZING LEVELS RISE BACK UP SHARPLY MONDAY, AND OR TUESDAY WITH 30'S TO LOW 40'S TO 9,000 FEET, BUT FALL SHARPLY BY MIDWEEK AND TOWARDS THE WEEKEND.

CASCADES AND TAHOE REGION --INCREDIBLE SNOWS OF 5-10 FEET IN PARTS OF CASCADES/TAHOE REGION OVER THE NEXT 10 DAYS-12 DAYS. MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN WILL HAVE THE BEST SKIING OF THE WINTER.

IF YOU ARE TRAVELING TO WHISTLER IN THE NEXT 10 DAYS----SEVERAL FEET OF SNOW AS WELL.

COLORADO---I LOOK FOR 1.5-2.5 FEET OF SNOW ACROSS ALL OF COLORADO FROM THE PERIOD OF MARCH 8TH-15TH. I SHOULD POINT OUT THAT TEMPERATURES WILL WARM INTO THE 30'S TO LOWER 40'S EARLY NEXT WEEK AT ELEVATIONS AS HIGH AS 9,000 FEET AT PLACES LIKE ASPEN AND THE FRONT RANGE OF THE ROCKIES, SO SOME MIDWEEK RAIN IS LIKELY FIRST, BEFORE FALLING FREEZING LEVELS AND BIG SNOWS ABOUT NEXT WEDNESDAY OR THURSDAY AND THEN ANOTHER BIG STORM AFTER THE 10TH.

I THINK THE SAN JUAN MOUNTAINS COULD SEE THE BEST SNOWS OF THE WINTER BETWEEN MARCH 7TH-14TH WITH SEVERAL FEET.
