I'm tired of all this weather prognostication. New topic.

Anyone ever see someone SWI or BWI (Skiing/boarding while intoxicated)? Or anything else equally as stupid on the slopes?

The last day at Alta they have a big party up on high Rustler, which is a hell of a steep run. Lot of booze up there so I can imagine what goes on. I hit it a few times but would never try it drunk.

I've fortunately never seen anyone so plastered they skied out of control or hit people. It depends on your definition of "intoxicated"....if you used a strict .08% blood alcohol standard, that would probably account for half the people on the hill after lunch.

i'm guilty of it, not fall down puking drunk, but buzzed for sure. Wouldnt do it now but in my younger days, we used to load a backpack up with cans and drink on the lift. usually at sundown and one time at mt snow in the spring that i clearly remember. or hazily remember. stupid things done.

I enjoy a light buzz to lossen up the knees sometimes, don't think I'm ever truly intoxicated on the slopes. I probably get clost to 0.8 occasionally, doubt I've ever gone much (if at all) over.

Have seen some pretty messed up folks out there a couple times.

Ever been on Lower Tote Road at about 3:30-4 pm during Reggae Fest at the Loaf? All those people hanging at Bullwinkles since 10:30 am start descending around that time...

I ski sober. I have too much to lose if I get hurt or worse at this point in my life. In my younger days, my thinking was quite a bit different, but now the thrill of skiing is enough.

I've seen people leave the bar pretty sauced and strap on the skis but i've never seen them actually skiing...As for me i'm usually way too thristy for beer at lunch- just give me the gatorade and water.

Haven't really seen many folks I thought were signficantly impaired skiing. I have seen quite a few folks smoking pot on lifts, if that qualifies. I'll occassionally have a beer at lunch or sometime in the afternoon, and continue to ski. But alcohol and skiing just don't seem like a good combo. Now, I love having few beers after skiing (if I don't have to drive). I viritually never drink alcohol before or while playing golf, either. In Austria you'd see folks having a mid-morning beer at the mountain huts. I have no doubt there are folks who ski while quite impaired, but I haven't seen much of it.

I'll have a couple of beers, but I wouldn't say that I ever skied really impaired. Nothing wrong with a couple of beers in my opinion as long as your not falling down drunk.

I got pretty buzzed once but I didn't like the feeling when I tried to ski. I felt that my form got really sloppy (and no I was not sloppy drunk :) ). I haven't done it since. The pond skimming day is a different story. Although on that day I am confined to one short run. I don't really over do it since I'm way to competitve to let alcohol significantly impare my performance.
A beer after a day of skiing is always tastey. Especially while rehashing highlights of a sweet powder day

Too many stories to tell from too far ago......back in the hazy 1970s........

The funniest one was probably having the guys at the top of Gore open the door to one of the old gondola cars and having me, my brother and my pal Dominic pop out amidst a huge cloud of dope smoke. They just laughed - it was like that back then.

I wouldn't even consider it now. Beers can wait until after the last run.......

I don't mean to sound irresponible, but 3 pints of good strong beer are almost always part of my day. It loosens up the legs and keeps the afternoon interesting. I guess this wouldn't work for a lot of people i guess.

No drinking for me - best beer of the day is the first one AFTER a good day on the mountain. In my dumber and younger days I did ski many times with a painful hang over and could not imagine doing that again.
