This has probably been discussed before, but I could not find anything even using the Search. Has anyone skied The Bruce? If so how do you find it and where does it end? Other then the historical significance, is it worth the effort?

The Bruce doesn't exist. Neither does Pipeline, Tusk, The Hourglass or the Teardrop. They're all myths.

Note to self: never show Strat where any backcountry stashes are.

Granted they aren't stashes but it is still bc stuff that you don't want to just tell everyone where it is.

The Bruce is great fun, but not all that difficult. I often times park a car at the Matterhorn and ski the Bruce to end my day before heading in for a couple of beers.

Might be better to contact some of these folks via PM to get more info rather than make it public...some folks like to keep this secret just that...secret

please. the bruce is hardly any BC secret. it is very well documented (at least as far as sidecountry goes) and very well skied and no more a secret than something like tuckerbrook at cannon. if you want to know, buy a copy of david goodman's books. playing dumb about closely guarded secrets is one thing. nobody spills on stashes or unpublisized and undocumented hidden gems. but the well documented sidecountry CCC trails are excellent introductions for folks looking to see what the BC has to offer. i have never skied the bruce for the record.

Thanks for the defense...

To further prove the point, who else read the article in the new Powder Mag about Slidebrook and how to get to the Mother...

I've skied the Bruce. It's pretty fun once. You have to skate out on flat cross-country trails for a ways and hitch back to the base which isn't a big deal. But if you've done it once and the conditions are at all decent, you're better off spending your lift ticket hours elsewhere, though you might be able to get some sort of single lift ticket. The cut of the trail is cool and there's less traffic so the snow's better than inbounds, but it's not a particularly challenging trail assuming you know what you're doing.

ouch! okay, having never skied slidebrook, that doesn't seem like something that should be fit to print!
I thought so as well... they even interviewed a local guy who many people that I know have been unofficialy guided by down there who talked to them about it... what is the world coming to, when locals are giving out secret BC information to small but still present magazines?

You can certainly find maps to these trails, but make them work for it. Don't just give it to them. Even though the Church is easy to find, you don't see people just openly showing maps of how to get there on the internet.

Sorry guys. I did not intend to put any body’s life in jeopardy. I completely respect the sanctity of the secret stash. I though The Bruce was a well known trail that just was no longer a part of the official Stow trail system. I was just looking for some interesting beginner BC stuff. I did Thunderbolt last year and I’m now hooked, at least for as long as the legs will hold out. Thanks for all the input.
