Where are they pulling this 22" storm total from? Certainly isn't the mid mountain snow plot.
Oh yeah, it must be the drift on the summit stake. 🙄

Cut and pasted from MRG? Their report this morning: Since yesterday’s closing bell, we’ve accumulated an additional 8 to 12 inches. This increases our ongoing storm total to 16-22” thus far. New snow is loaded atop yesterday’s 10” of dense, sleet loaded snow where fresh powder pockets will deliver bottomless sensations.

SBH report now says 21. I think that's accurate, based on shoveling in the Valley and what I saw on the hill

A decent amount fell since the mountain closed yesterday, so I fully believe the 20”+ storm total is as accurate as you’re going to get with how much is being moved around by all this wind.

I’m actually somewhat shocked any lifts at all are running right now.

That would be great, if accurate. Their reporting is all over the place, which makes me wonder where they are pulling 22 from.
- 9" in the last 24hr (6-8 in report), 13" in the last 48/72hr..

I watched the webcam until I saw Gatehouse spinning this morning as Bravo and Valley House were not. The wind was howling at my house. I rode up GH, did one run and then skied over to CR via the connection. I was probably the 10th chair ups and had a fabulous run down Middle Earth with knee deep powder puffs. Almost no line when I got down, so I did a run down CR and LCR and discovered the same. Two of the nicest runs I have had up there. When I go down to the base I was amazed that Bravo had just cleared and began loading It was a frigid ride up but worth it. The woods are the place to be as the wind is creating variable conditions on the exposed trails. Looking forward, it is looking good at least through the end on this month. And, I believe the snow report after this morning.

The Sugarbush website has some great video on the homepage these days. In the second video frame, there's an overhead shot of someone skiing a trail with open birch trees...it kinda feels like moonshine/twist, but I can't really tell. Anybody know what trail it is?

Upper Moonshine, I believe.

Didn't make it out :( Had hoped to pop by Ellen for a few runs but somehow NR was the only lift running there (the gods have cursed me!) Just as well, plowing the driveway took over an hour trying to find room for everything.

Thanks for pointing that out. Definitely a cool video. I almost never go to the SB homepage. I just perpetually keep the snow report open in one tab and refresh that.

Agree with what was said that it is moonshine in that one part of the video.

I didn't make it out today although after Win's report I wish I had as what he did was likely what I would have done as well. I had a commitment this evening in NJ and when I saw everything other than GH pretty much on hold first thing I didn't see a point in going out (even CR was on windhold at that point). Ended up leaving around 9:30 after cleaning the car off and digging out a bit. Took 7+ hours to get home which might be a new record (excluding the eclipse last year).

If you send your time looking at the snow stakes to get your snow totals you are going to be low everytime. The wind at both locations affects the platform accumulation. I am fortuante to have my network of friends texting the group with first hand knowledge. The report is accurate for the woods in areas that have not been hammered by the wind.

Cabin cat on Birch this morning. Must have been very nice.

So more cam-lurking info from early this morning (still sick and at home):

If you were a Sugarbush employee and you saw a tipped-over ski rack with 5 pr of customers' skis around it on the ground what would you do:

a) walk by like you saw nothing
b) tip the rack up but leave skis scattered on the ground
c) tip up rack and put skis back on rack

2 of these are what happened this morning.

Just an observation from yesterday...
I'm not a Sugarbush apologist and they have certainly seemed to struggle with communication and transparency this year, but I found it interesting that when Bravo went down late morning they were upfront in labeling it a "maintenance" issue. The way the winds were roaring they could have very easily said it was a wind hold and spared themselves some potential cranky blow back. This is more transparency than I would expect from some other VT ski areas.

Heaven's Gate is not spinning and the app/website has not been updated since opening. No excuses on a holiday week. Is everyone sleeping? Worked too hard through the weekend? I have guests visiting for one day and can't even get enough info to decide if we should pivot to Mt. Ellen. Lincoln Peak is very quiet this morning. Thought it would be busier.1000016473.png

I'm suspecting they're either having issues with the website or a new version/template was rolled out and is experiencing some glitches. Color-coded icons indicate open, yet text doesn't match that.

And the wind hold status is in a completely different spot:

(A holiday week in the middle of ski season seems like a terrible time to roll out an update to a website fwiw).

Website and app are both not correct. Webcams show NRX and Summit are not spinning. Despite green dots on the website.
