Yes if I lived there full time it would be a pain. I don't. Truth be told, I ususally go to killington when they are top to bottom and only once or twice early season. Skiing with my head on a swivel is not my favorite. I usually go to Sunday River where the crowds are less, snow conditions are usually great and I can stay at my Sisters house and eat really good home cooking. ;-)

I just usually wait until December anyway lol. But it still bothers me to see SB not taking advantage of temps whenever they can. I'm still leaning towards they had an issue and it wasn't a conscious decision to wait until this morning to fire up compared to last night.

Yes I’ve been happily surprised by Stratton early season the past few years. Prior I hadn’t even considered it a contender, but they can get several long trails off each of URSA and Snow Bowl early on.

I remember early last season John Hammond posted on this forum what was going on with the mountain and then the first post after that was someone complaining as to what he said. Then I thought “I bet that’s the last time he’s ever going post an update on here”. This seems to be the case.

I can remember in the 1990s-2000s on southern vt day trips, Stratton was a few dollars more than Mount Snow and Okemo, but their snowmaking was significantly better. I think around that time mt snow bought haystack for the water rights.

This doesn't sound very Epic.

Oh wait, wrong soulless conglomerate, sorry.
Nah - it’s not like that. The resort hasn’t changed that much - alterra allows independence - they’re not Vail. Substantially the same people and same culture as when win owned it.

The most significant difference is the larger crowds with Ikon - which completely blows.

Opened up last year at Stowe with a pretty good storm...but then spent a lot of time at SB because they had more terrain open early.
I guess..we shall see.

I know some do not have FB access on here, but Sugarbush posted yesterday about the start of Snowmaking operations. So they have started up, pretty much where Newpy indicated in his post.

Not quite sure the video they posted to social media was really brag worthy (compared to what other resorts posted and are doing).

Do you ever wake up and realize Sugarbush is your local hill?

Instead of Pat's Peak. Now it's a party.

Epic > Vail

Automatic for the People.
