I'm disappointed that the $99 TBD ticket now only has > 1-Apr as the extra day, when they closed on 1-Apr last year.

This new chosen date feels very disingenuous to me, and erodes any 2-for-1 value from TBD.

In past years, I used to get to ski the Bush (to see how the other/Alterra half lives) on their various Valentine's deals, TBD days on St Patricks or on Mardi Gras/etc. It kept me minimally connected to the mountain. Now these 'deal' opportunities seem gone. Basically TBD now is $100 to ski just a single day, in my book, so not worth it.

Guess this year I'll try out Bolton instead for the similar $50/day that TBD used to be.

The sad reality is that the big corporate ski areas are only interested in pass sales. The walk-up prices and "deals" that are really not that great are meant to push people to buy passes...or walk away. Personally, I am sad that the days of "hey, it's a powder day...let's try (insert area here)" or "I have never skied (insert area) so let's check it out" are pretty much over, unless you visit small, independent areas (which is fun in itself). That was such a blast as a kid and young adult, as it was exciting to explore new places.

Now I hope they can get some snow down. Killington's cams show them hammering with temps around 40...dry as a bone out there.

My memory may be faulty, but weren't they also just selling > 1-Apr spring passes in the days before when that happened? It eroded some trust.

If Vail had done that, people would have been all over it as 'sucking'.

Possibly...I don't remember. And I agree it was poorly communicated (although there were some that argued it had been communicated well in advance, but I don't consider vague references to HG closing in "early April" the same as saying it was closing April 1). I still think they should have given a bonus weekend at ME last year to make up for HG closing early. But what's done is done...

I'm just glad that I have a full pass and don't have to worry about such details. When Heavens gate closed down, I took the oportunity to ski Killington, Sunday River and Mad River Glen Via my 3 pack. It's interesting. My nephew took advantage of that deal and thought it was the best. He skied two days and utilized it with no issues. Nothing is perfect in life. You just have to be a little flexible.
