Yeah just read that email.
Good news. Should be decent skiing this weekend.
4-9" in NOAA forecast between now and then.

Will be ccccold though. Hope the opening goes off without a hitch (i.e. without me being stuck on HG if it goes down)

Still wish they'd fix the web cams...

Lost a lot of snow yesterday. My yard is all green now. Hoping tonight brings more - forcast 3-5 at elevation, WCAX says 4-8 in high pockets. I can see the trails are still white, however.

HG opens Saturday! What's the over/under on complaints? :p
What kind of complaints are you talking about?
Great that it is open. For the record it is a month later than what they were expecting. That's on Dopplemayr.
The one good thing about the late opening is that trails like paradise and Spills now have a hard base over the rocks. In years past they would open them way to early in my opinion and ski them down to the dirt. This made the trails have rocks and crap showing all year. This year you are doing to see good conditions on these trails baring a complete melt down, better than the past bunch of years.

I had several friends that worked in Danvers for many years. I went to college with the IT guy for them that set up and maintained all the sales tracking and hardware for the registers and credit card machines. For a while I bought all of my gear from them. Good people and the ski trips they had were legendary.

Whether warranted or not,… there will definitely be complaints! I’m not complaining,.. but here’s a few we may hear:
loading sucks
unloading area sucks
should have been higher
should have been lower
too many stop and starts
feel free to add to the list 😜

Good point on a good base that has had time to set up.

Oh I'm sure people will find something to complain about...

Why wasn't it a detach?
Shouldn't have replaced it yet
Too many people on HG now

I'm sure there are other things we haven't said yet that people will come up with...

I've been to the bottom and think that the loading area is going to be much better. There is more room. The top will be better for the boarders with the hill being mostly gone. You would think that the lift will be the same speed as before maybe a l little faster. I could care less about the seats. I am there is ski. The big question that people keep harping on is the height at the top and the exposure to wind. I am in the camp of thinking that the heavier chairs and the open slats will be a benefit and the chair will be better in the wind. We will see.

Ya there will be those people. I am not going to live in the past and plan to just ignore the static. The lift is now here. It's new. Lets hope it works correctly and the bitching may just die down.

Should've replaced NRX first
Seems like the obvious choice from the cheap seats where I sit. I’m going to assume that there was a solid rationale to proceed with HG first given factors I might not be aware of beyond age, duty cycle and criticality to the resort, but the removal of NRX from Liftblog’s list of planned replacements is ominous. I’m going to try and be optimistic that there is a larger plan in place but reserve the right to be disappointed in future underinvestment and general neglect. Sugarbush has a sizable lift fleet and a lot of aging assets. It’s also the only northeast major I can think of besides Sugarloaf with zero covered lifts of any kind (which I’m not complaining about but doesn’t exactly scream major resort in 2024).

Opening day is likely to be a good first test as to whether they achieved better wind tolerance. Should be the same speed with a loading carpet to the triple it replaced.

couldnt disagree more. As much as I have pined for a new NRX for years, HG needed to be replaced, is a vital lift to access the upper mountain of the main part of the resort.
