For sure, to show how crazy some are in VT. somehow the house has agreed to sue the large petroleum companies for the damages caused by flooding, blaming them for global warming all with VT tax payer money. Can't imagine how many millions VT will spend on this, the petroleum company have endless money & layers, such a joke.
To save my sanity, I am going to refrain from commenting on Vermont politics.

I should also mention as Win and others have repeated pointed out - development in the basin was signed away by ASC as a compromise to getting the SBX built...curious, is that iron clad into perpetuity? no option for renegotiation?
Probably not

I skied today in the bitter cold and wind and most trails were very wind sheared, Never a bad day of skiing - right? It does look like the wind will be less by Friday and the weekend looks a lot better. Hopefully the snow we have been getting each night stays inbounds. I really to not know enough to comment accurately, but pick up s bit of info to share. I did hear that Sunny-D is scheduled to be inspected tomorrow. I pity the lift team that has to load water into barrels for the load test in these conditions. While Castlerock has run to bring patrol up, I believe it is getting some tower faults and that needs to be corrected and then inspected. Could be lose or worn tower wiring or something of the sort. The current cold and windy makes it tough to do tower work. Those should not be major issues. I think SBX is close or ready for inspection. While I have yet to get out there I suspect the roads in are close to being OK. NRX is still having some chair spacing problems which has frustrated the team. I would not be surprised if John needs to call in some outside expertise to complement the team on site with this issue. We have had to so that in the past. Do not take these comments as gospel but hopefully are reasonably accurate and Sugarbush will put out a more complete update like the last one soon.

quite the harsh day out there. I'm looking forward to hiking CR this weekend, always our favorite runs of the year. NRX sure is frustrating, year after year the same story. urgh

Thanks for all your comments Win. I think I can speak for most people on this forum - your comments and insight is greatly appreciated. Seems you have figured out a new career for yourself as a PR person :giggle:

A load test and troubleshooting wiring in this weather is the absolute worst - been there done that. Luckily it looks like it's going to get balmy soon ie 20s lol.

The info is much appreciated. Not sure why we have to find out this way.

I think we'd all agree that the summer and fall offered much more hospitable conditions to perform this sort of work.

If only we knew there would be bad weather to contend within during the winter!

The lift is just unsafe enough for ski patrol to ride up there and get all that untracked powder to themselves. A real Goldilocks zone of mechanical failures. And what convenient timing to launch a new fringe benefit for them, given all the strike talk lately! Would you rather stand out in the cold in a picket line, or get a chance to sit in a warming hut in between laps of the best lift-inaccessible terrain in the East? What a miraculous coincidence for everyone, except for us suckers who bought a season pass.

Welcome back Tin

unless I’m missing something, its a week before mlk and they haven’t had inspections of these lifts To date?
shouldn’t this have been done before the season started? Obviously heavens gate was delayed but these other lifts I’m pretty sure were there all summer and fall.

I, for one, greatly enjoyed the skiing Tuesday and Wednesday (at LP!) - laughing in the face of the wind and cold! The search for the most powdery turns was most often successful; and the crowds were certainly pretty non-existent. Challenges going up; and getting down the mountain, for certain. But, whether I'm just enjoying the Sugarbush Koolaid; or making my own lemonade; I'll look for similar fun tomorrow, at Mt. Ellen. Then, more forum reading into the evening...haha!

One would have thought that these would have been already done. If memory serves me right in following this thread, these have not been done because: SB does not have enough lift techs; Sunny D had some technical problems that required Doppelmayr; Slide Brook had to sacrifice some parts to another lift so that lift could open; and I am probably missing something.

I agree with you that it seems very odd that these things were not done sooner. I know that others agree.

Pretty insulting remarks.
