With all the issues between lift, water, staffing, parts, inspections it certainly seems that anyone who purchased a season pass IKON or Local have all been sold a product that Altera is not even coming close to delivering, we all got ripped off for sure this season. Any business that cares abouts its customers would be more transparent and come up with some bone to through us, but guessing nothing will be done, they have our money & seem to spend it at other resorts & line their pockets.

Maybe someone from the patrol read Powderdreams comments and desided to close down operations. I would not be surprised. That would be something I would do.

That would be just a big F you to use skiers, we paid to ski that area, either by hiking or riding a lift, there is enough snow. This has nothing to do with safety, like when skinners where skiing in front of grooming equipment and a shutdown was needed to drive the point home.
Agree the comment is harsh and the lift not being operable is not caused by ski patrol & they should not be brought into the fails on the mountain management, they continue to do a great job and are very much appreciated. Unfortunately, everyone involved in mountain operations is going to take shit this season right or wrong, they need to have thick skin and not go I'll show you the paying customer because of an out of line comment. Patrol should be taking their frustration out with management.

I just thought the comment was unwarrented. Some people think that Castlerock is this powder paradise being held out. The relaity is that people have been skinning and poaching CR even before they opened it. OK I will say it. I was one of them. Hell I know people that skied it as fast grass after the first snow fall. LOL The point is that this lift appears to be broken and ski patrol has nothing to do with it and in the interim go get the goods yourself. It's not that big a deal.

Should we consider switching from the full Ikon pass to just the base pass? We've owned a home at Sugarbush for the past 13 years, having rented there for several years before that. Since Altera purchased Sugarbush, we’ve bought the full Ikon pass every season. We’ve always opened our home to friends and family during the holidays, and those visits—along with skiing together during the blackout dates—have been a highlight for us. Unfortunately, many of our friends now opt for just the base pass or decide that skiing at Sugarbush during those blackout periods is too expensive, too crowded and generally poor conditions. I’m starting to feel the same way and there are other options in the valley including MRG and skinning.

Too crowded during blackouts is an odd complaint. I'd say blackouts are some of the best days to ski now (with the caveat of the potential variability of conditions due to weather particularly during the Christmas period where we know it has often not been great conditions-wise lately).

Castlerock, NorthRidge, Sunshine Quad & SlideBrook. All currently unavailable because of mechanical/inspection issues.
No other Northeast mountain has this many annual mechanical issues.

Who turned the fan up to high? I've shoveled the same 3" from the front of the house three days now. Amazing how the driveway has nothing! 🤣

A few pages ago someone said it was important to replace HG but really? NR has had mechanical problems for many years now, AFAIK not the case with HG? Admit I ride more at ME these days as I hate crowds but the only time HG has not been running for me was windhold. That's not to say the mountain shouldn't be proactive to a degree but first deal with the known problem children?

Think a fair share of the problem with housing is many investment homes that were rented full year pre-covid were sold to outsiders who now keep for their own part time use (regardless of whether they do STR). The trend was clear though in the late teens when a property manager said of the condo complex where I had owned a unit, it was now viewed as affordable housing by people from outside the valley (not necessarily out of state).

Condo's and the like may work for the younger employees but anyone with a family is going to want to rent (or own) a home and that boat looks to have sailed. That means older, experienced workers are not going to be able to stay in this area.

Where did you read that?
Trail map is currently showing all of HG and castlerock as closed. Every lift at north is closed (save Inverness) but all trails listed as open.. no mention on written report of hiking open to castlerock, or to HG (they did mention uphill OK to HG the other day when it was on wind hold)
