Ski areas are a money pit, always have been. They eat capital unlike any other business. The areas with new lifts also have new development. DV is getting 18 lifts cause they are gonna build how many houses and condos and restaurants and shops and a new village and all the things nobody in the MRV wants. That’s where the return is. And that’s where the investment goes.

This has already been stated (maybe in other threads), but Alterra isn't getting returns on those houses, condos, etc at DV. They don't own that land and aren't the ones developing it.

We have a new lodge. A new condo hotel, 2 new resturaunts, a new ski school building, a new rental shop. That's the thing. No one will ever be satisfied until it is perfect in thier eyes.

Me......I'm good. Just make what we have work. I think all of this will serves the faithful perfectly. The rest will move on and we will have our mountain back. I just have to sit here an wait. It's OK I have time.

The long time faithful here are frustrated but we aren't going anywhere. At least that is what the people I ski with think. I know that the management here is doing the best they can with the resources they have. Communication is the hot topic and they are aware of thier short commings for sure. We will see what transpires. I am going to hope for the best because I really can't affect the outcome.

So they are just benevolent benefactors spending half a billion for lift tickets?

Ok.

“The new development includes a village with 800 hotel rooms, 1,700 residential units, 250,000 square feet of commercial space and a 68,000-square-foot recreation center.”

Hawk all that new shiny is only at LP unless you count mods made to the ME lodge related to the Adaptive expansion. If ever there was a time for a new lodge at ME, that was the time.

I don't think one person has mentioned how the skiing is this week. Can we talk about that instead? Win mentioned wind shear on the slopes, I hear from one bud who has been out a couple times this week that the trails are totally wind scoured and super firm. I hear from another further north that the woods are bombed out with trees and branches down everywhere and wind scour in the woods too.
Makes me wonder if worth going this weekend. Whats the word, thunderbird?

Hike to CR is going to be the play. Since that chair doesn’t work.

Got 3 laps in this morning - Cliffs was pretty good, Lower FIS not so much. Never seen that trail so wind hammered. There were decent spots, but man was that some funky snow.

RIP GMX.

Summit Quad was broken until 10:45. GMX is now “done for the day” because of mechanical issue. NorthRidge is broken. NO END IN SIGHT!! No word from management.
Super Bravo was curiously omitted from opening chairs in the snow report today, too.

? I saw Super Bravo listed first thing this morning as being delayed due to icing and that VH would be the 9AM lift on that side.
