I went to Whaleback last wednesday 12/28 and it was pretty nice. Only one path down the hill which was kinda slick but if you stayed to the edges, it was pretty nice. Sure there are bugs to work out and the staff could cetainly use some more experience.....but there is a way up and a way down. Good job Whaleback!!! Can't wait until more terrain opens up. Finally some skiing under the lights...that's how I learned at Brodie and Bousquet!

Well, They made snow Saterday Through Monday almost straight. The problem was the warm weather we had on Thursday and the rain. us Ski and snowboard instructors get to have at least one clinic a week, we had two oreintations before the mountain opened. Im hoping to practice snowborading today after I get out of school.

The snowmaking has mainly been on Ivory Run, a green trail. The reason why the website is so bare is because they have been working so much on other things that their website was thrown to the side for now. I actually talked to Evan about it, and Frank. Evan sounded enthuseastic about my ideas, because I was willing to help them out with it.

Too many questions to answer at once guys, slow down :D

Although I'm not sure, I'm assuming he meant cheese jump (k is right next to j on the keyboard and he meantioned jump beforehand), and im assuming that would be a jump shaped like a wedge of cheese? That's the only thing I could come up with, and I'm in the terrain parks all the time and have never heard that term used.

Wow. Doesn't sound like what I was picturing after reading those newspaper stories last year: a mogul course within sight of I89, an outrageous park, pipe and air site, a big building full of trampolines and ramps, and a bunch of great freestyle and freeride coaches everywhere....
What happened?

My guess would be a profound lack of operating capital.

If they are "too busy" to put up a proper website, I suspect the Whale is close to beaching itself.

I really hope I'm wrong.

...and they probably had to open and get a little revenue coming in to start paying down loans. It's a shame they couldn't open with a bang, though... with all the cool facilities and terrain and expert coaches in place. Evan had his fame and some good PR going for him all summer.

Well, I was at the mountain today, and it was awsome skiing, except for the really strong winds, but thats beside the point. They were making snow agian for Ambercis, and spout, plus adding base snow, and bottom of Ivry run. There was some awsome powder skiing today, if u missed it, oh well, there will be others. I probably did about ten runs, not in a row, but like two or three and then head back inside kind of deal, it was that cold. 8)

Nope, have not been.

No report on SnoCountry  As far as I knew, they weren't open this weekend.

Good news though: drove by Friday PM and the double was FULL.
