1dog, please try and keep your participation in these discussions skiing focus. A very high percentage of your posts are about crowbarring in your political views.

We let some politics slide if it has some relation to skiing, but these comments you are making here have nothing to do with the sport.

Got it. Hard to separate it from life/leisure/etc. but will try to keep hands in front. Appreciate your efforts.

It's 9:30 here at Sundance Express, which is not running yet because the crew just showed up to sweep every chair and haul away the snow that they sweep off on little shovels. I will say they do four chairs at a time which is pretty efficient?? Estimated wait time 35-45 minutes.

To be fair to Vail, Mount Snow has always been pretty slow at getting chairs open after snow/ice. Stratton, with bascially the same weather, has been kicking our ass for a long long time in that department. Other than the use of parking rails, I'm not sure why that is.

there's really no excuse for it either, seeing as the bulk of strattons lifts are detaches

Let me ask this in regards to icing: Stratton locals, does their Lift Ops run their lifts afterhours to prevent icing? In other words, pay staff overtime to sit and run the lifts overnight? Places USED to do this for detachable lifts. I don't know if they still do. That costs money but saves lengthy delays to de-ice.

Similarly, does Stratton have Lift Ops come in EARLIER to clear snow off the lifts so as to meet demand?

You should see his house at the Yellowstone club...
I believe you are referring to the house of James J Dolan of Federated Investors, not Knicks owner James L Dolan ?

my BIL was up at stratton today. 2 lifts were delayed for icing and one was just broke so stratton wasn't doing any better today.

MS has everything except for Bluebird and the learning center delayed. 2 delayed and 1 broken sounds delightful.

As I understand it, that really isn't a thing anymore. The grips can still ice up doing that, which then still have to be dealt with before the lift can operate. Plus it just puts extra hours on the lift.

Additionally from an overall safety issue for lift mechanics, it's definitely safer to have them up on icy towers banging the ice away in the daylight than in the dark

seriously = would you go climb an icy tower for s$$$ wages in the variable weather, definitely cold and wet.... so I could ski earlier??? I love to ski and have 40 days in so far, but I understand the life of a ski mountain employee and I would not do lift mantenace or snow makeing myself. It is way to dangerous and not worth the risk for s$$$ wages and my life
