Apparently people were stuck on King Con for about an hour today

And unlike most lifts which suck to be stuck ON, this one also sucks if you're stuck in line, because you're basically stranded there with no escape (map pic below showing why). Post from someone stuck in line today with no escape.

An occupied chair fell off a lift at Attitash. Yikes.

Jfc! I'm all for signing off risk when you go skiing but wow. I hope the person is OK. What a nightmare!

Meanwhile at Vail HQ…..

“I mean it’s called a detachable chairlift for a reason, right?”

(Thankfully there don’t appear to be any serious injuries)

I was thinking to myself maybe I'll forego a Stowe weekend soon and check out Attitash for the first time and Wildcat for the second time. They're slowly starting to get more open.

I'm good. I know I'm still financially supporting Vail by skiing at Stowe but I'm good with Attitash and Wildcat. What a shitshow.

In other Vail lift woes, Park City's Pioneer has been down pretty much all season. It's an ancient lift (41 years old) that parts arent available for, so something has to be custom made from scratch.

How To Calculate The Park City Mountain Credits Offered by Vail Resorts For Guests Affected By Ski Patrol Strike

$200-$500 off next years EPIC PASS. Hmmmmm now how to force VAIL to honor this across those who didn't ride the strike but canceled their trip plans to avoid the Chaos

The fact one of the major ski follows had to publish a, "how to figure out" article makes me feel better that it wasn't just me who thought Vail's press release was completely unintelligible.

That said, pretty psyched I'm going to save about $370 on something I only used once during the strike because I had to anyway, and that I have no choice but to repurchase anyway. Not to mention, the strike day we were there we just lapped Saddleback & it wasn't even that bad. Might save closer to $500 if they discount my kid's EPIC Local 25% too, she was free this year as a 5-year old, so not sure how they'll handle that.

41 years isn't particularly old for a fixed-grip lift--that would make it a 1983/84 install, right? There are plenty of lifts older than that still in regular operation with good uptime and safety records, just maybe not at Vail resorts. Heck, more than half the ski areas in Montana have at least one lift that old or older (I'm not curious enough to dig around the liftblog lists to check other states).

I would say nearly half of the lifts in Pennsylvania and New York are at least that old and the majority in the midwest are older than that

Many of them in immaculate condition, fresh paint, run smoothly, nicely manicured terminals

not sure if this has been posted....interesting
WTAF?! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: Wow, that guy REALLY thinks that Vail Sucks! Tying Vail to the Opioid Crisis? Jesus!

I watched his video and had to sit through his annoying pronunciations but my conclusion is that like his Pow Mow video he is really going too hard on the hate and losing credibility. Sure, the Sacklers had a 40% stake in Peaks, but as he covers in the story, it was a terrible investment as the stock price never rose and instead fell. Additionally, the Sackler’s misdeeds happened many years before the sale to Vail so his argument fails there. And ultimately the money from the deal will be paid by Purdue to the Feds and States to settle the suits (although the Sacklers are fighting this).

I do recall hearing that the Sacklers were involved with Peaks, but I don't recall ANY major coverage about ethical concerns of the Vail deal. I don’t see him citing to anything. Yes, the Sacklers were 40% owners, but 60% of the company was owned by others. And yes the Sacklers will have a special place in hell, but this guy is really reaching. His citation to concerns from Attitash folks doesn't say anything about getting rid of the Sacklers. He is really stretching things in my opinion. And some think that we are the biggest haters of Vail. 😂

And SOMEBODY tell him that it is pronounced DOLLars and not DULLurz.
