Exactly. I am skeptical of a "cable snapping". Perhaps it was something else? Or a change in tension?
Reddit sourcing. Definitely raises skepticism about it's validity. Guessing if it was a catastrophic haul rope failure, that someone at Vail that day would of posted up a picture of the chairs all splayed out on the ground under the lift towers by now. Hopefully the only consequence of whatever happend was an inconvenience to ones day on the slopes and not an injury

Imagine if a haul rope "snapped" (and has that ever actually happened?) but anyway, if a haul rope snapped right in front of,or behind, your chair.... Holy shit you'd get launched. Now imagine the same thing happened near a bull wheel, ppl become hamburger. Whoever wrote "snapped" is an idiot.
And separately, I agree with a previous comment that if there had been zero injuries here then the official report fromVail would have very clearly stated no injuries so the fact that it doesn't say that absolutely indicates that there were some form of injuries.

Haul ropes just don't snap...it's a braided rope, made up of 6 core braids that wraps around an inner core. The main 6 cores are also braided. Then you might ask what if the splice failed... the splice in total is 160ft long. It takes 25 plus people standing side by side working together to build the splice.

Is this Vail’s fault somehow 🤣? Don’t get me wrong, I’ll happily blame them for anything at this point.

lol. Thats what we free Americans love to do- find the culprit, and big corps, big government are easy to blame. And sure, sometimes its warranted. Humans make mistakes. . . as I used to say to my fellow co-workers. . . .'just don't let it be you'.

glad no one was hurt. My wife and 10 year old daughter rescued from Heavens Gate lift - last ones of full lift evac. couple hours - sunny, not windy day.

Blame culture is “in” these days, critical thinking is out. Idiocracy may very well be a prophetic documentary. Whaddyagonnado? Fuhgettaboutit.
