Exactly. I am skeptical of a "cable snapping". Perhaps it was something else? Or a change in tension?
Reddit sourcing. Definitely raises skepticism about it's validity. Guessing if it was a catastrophic haul rope failure, that someone at Vail that day would of posted up a picture of the chairs all splayed out on the ground under the lift towers by now. Hopefully the only consequence of whatever happend was an inconvenience to ones day on the slopes and not an injury

Imagine if a haul rope "snapped" (and has that ever actually happened?) but anyway, if a haul rope snapped right in front of,or behind, your chair.... Holy shit you'd get launched. Now imagine the same thing happened near a bull wheel, ppl become hamburger. Whoever wrote "snapped" is an idiot.
And separately, I agree with a previous comment that if there had been zero injuries here then the official report fromVail would have very clearly stated no injuries so the fact that it doesn't say that absolutely indicates that there were some form of injuries.

Haul ropes just don't snap...it's a braided rope, made up of 6 core braids that wraps around an inner core. The main 6 cores are also braided. Then you might ask what if the splice failed... the splice in total is 160ft long. It takes 25 plus people standing side by side working together to build the splice.

Is this Vail’s fault somehow 🤣? Don’t get me wrong, I’ll happily blame them for anything at this point.

lol. Thats what we free Americans love to do- find the culprit, and big corps, big government are easy to blame. And sure, sometimes its warranted. Humans make mistakes. . . as I used to say to my fellow co-workers. . . .'just don't let it be you'.

glad no one was hurt. My wife and 10 year old daughter rescued from Heavens Gate lift - last ones of full lift evac. couple hours - sunny, not windy day.

Blame culture is “in” these days, critical thinking is out. Idiocracy may very well be a prophetic documentary. Whaddyagonnado? Fuhgettaboutit.

Where did you see the ponds are low at Blue? I was there the other day and the pond right by the tubing hill looked full and they were 100% open. Maybe they have a pump issue I don’t know but it’s not lack of water. CBK too, I’ve been impressed with the way they have and continue to pump out snow
Oh, yeah, they were low. The first time was around December 15th. You could kinda tell something was going on, it was wicked cold, but they werent blowing on much. like they should have been blowing on Razors to open that for the spandex squad, but they werent. And a visual from the quad, you could see they were low. a friend used to work there, and said he had never seen the ramp that goes down into the pond, and i have never seen them anything but full previously. Then we got some rain, and the ponds were noticeably higher. i saw they were low again probably just after the new year when they were almost full open, after a long stretch of snowmaking. Camelback has done a 180 since last year. like night and day. and today they announced staying open 7 days until like mid April, and weekends after that. which is pretty bold if you ask me, but even i might go there for some spring skiing.

That would be because they hired the right guy to be GM. Jason Bayes knows and cares about the mountain. He worked with my daughter when she was there and I’m proud to say sat in my kitchen and talked skiing with us years ago. Pushing all the right buttons from getting rid of paid parking to aggressive snow making.IMG_0002.jpeg
This picture was taken 3 or 4 weeks after the season ended and one can see how well Cliffhanger holds snow. Always thought it could be the Superstar of Pa if they stockpiled snow on it. Guess Jason is going to give it a shot.
